Nice presentation by MSFT at E3:
    - All major games have Beta release first. Digital available before physical. Bet that will expand.
    - Plenty of Indie, DL only, and free games!
    - Not much for a long time in the way of AAA.

    Really looking forward to Sony.

Not scary - there are an extra 30 millon shares held long and they will sell fast after Sony announcement.

So they certainly have their work cut out for them at GME:
    - Sony is devoting huge chunk of time at E3 to PS Now. Likely to announce comprehensive rental/streaming service. The technology is apparently totally done deal. Now for the introductory low pricing.
    - Sony announces two free game downloads per month for regular subscribers.
    - Preorder/predownload is now a way of life.
    - Walmart getting their used business ready now that they have inventory. Have fun competing with them.
    - Lots of AAA games getting postponed into 2015. Trend of lack of content apparently continuing.

Again and again, there will be fewer reasons for anyone to shop at GME.

  • - NPD reports packaged software down another 10% in April. This is somehow good news because at least its not as bad as down 27% in March.
    - Xbox1 basically stopped selling. MS announces reduced price and I am wondering how GME is going to dump all the old boxes they have in inventory. Next up is expandable HD so gamers can store all the games they are downloading.
    - TakeTwo reports digital up to 43% in last quarter. Also, sadly for GME, they reported almost no games in the pipeline so stock gets whacked.
    - PSNow reviews looking very strong. Very possible they will have much of the PS3 catalog on line to buy or rent..
    - Microsoft now selling games online at lower prices than GME is selling used physical. Ouch.

  • Here is the news from the last few days....

    - IDC forecasts 45 percent decline in physical disk sales over next few years.
    - ATVI Physical retail down 26% GAAP and down 47% non GAAP last qtr
    - EA Packaged goods down 15% GAAP and down 12% non GAAP last qtr
    - Nintendo gets slammed and misses even revised low forecasts.
    - EA reports "two to three times greater downloads on the new consoles versus prior gen"

I could go on but shouldnt need to. Come on Michael Patcher, wake up and run.....

  • - Child of Light getting great reviews. Great for lots of gamers! Its down-load only.
    - Spiderman had some issues with X1. So, for a while, its down-load only on X1.
    - Watch Dogs (only possible hit game for next five months) “has become the first game that you can pre-load on PS4.” Lots of PS4 owners happily pushing buy. Shorts have really been waiting for this and now its here.
    - Microsoft cutting production of X1s. May stop for a while.
    - Even GME is throwing in the towel. Now closing stores. Hoping that somehow they pull off a miracle with some other new idea – like Gamestop Institute of Technology, mobile trade-ins, a few Apple stores. Good luck with that.....

Even though hardly anyone reads this, its still fun to report:
    - Physical games down 27% last month. (NPD) Superdata has digital up by similar amount.
    - Playstation Now in Beta and apparently getting reasonably good reviews.
    - Playstation Firmware update about to go which allows pre-down loading of new releases. So, no need to preorder and go to the store to buy a game. Just pre-buy and the game goes active when released. Nice!
    - PSN basically giving away old games this weekend.
    - Gamestop having to raise prices for buying trade-ins to compete with Walmart.
    - Titanfall has come and gone. Weak results on both platforms. No new exclusive in sight.....
