Don't know about the Hallibuton truck you mentioned, It looks like the truck in the video on the Capstone Site
LOL we need a lot more clean garbage trucks than super yachts for sure. Ian Wright imho is a very smart man and will be very good to Capstone Turbine. Of all the videos on the Capstone Site the Wrightspeed video is the most important and I watch it again and again.

Well-designed CHP cuts energy costs and net carbon emissions – but two added advantages are currently being concentrated on in the US. First, that of giving building operators a measure of independence from grid supplied power and, second, reducing stress on local power grids. Americans want to see increased resilience in their energy systems to cope with peak weather events such as heatwaves, hurricanes and major flooding events caused by climate change.

Earlier this month, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $40 million of funding for new CHP systems that generate on-site energy to protect commercial, industrial, health care, institutional and multi-family facilities across New York State from weather-related power disruptions. The initiative follows the high profile demonstration last October of the standby power capabilities of CHP – protecting several buildings in New York State when hurricane Sandy caused widespread power cuts.

Just a week later, politicians in Washington DC covered similar ground – learning how district energy, CHP and microgrids can make local energy supply more reliable and more resilient in the face of severe weather events that have caused electricity supply disruptions. The Congressional briefing, organised by the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, also reviewed plans to introduce the Local Energy Supply & Resiliency Act.

In both cities, CHP is being seen primarily as a tool to increase the resilience of local power infrastructure. And the State of New York, through its Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is happy to subsidise new schemes. In New York, funding is available for gas-fuelled CHP schemes and CHP feasibility studies, with extra funding available for schemes that serve critical infrastructure facilities such as disaster refuge facilities. Schemes located in particular network stress zones, as identified by local utility Con Edison, also qualify for extra support.

    ROYAL HUISMAN S/Y LETHANTIA

Lethantia is a 44 meter Schooner and the first yacht in the world to run with an MME generator. It has now successfully trialed the microturbine over a full year, with excellent results.

On super yachts, generators run 24h a day delivering electricity for operations and services such as housekeeping, air conditioning, hot water, hydraulics and so on. Especially at night, or when staying off-shore at anchor in a bay, it would be ideal to use power from a battery. However, most battery banks cannot provide enough energy which means that, if you want to enjoy your sailing yacht amidst the beauty of nature, you also have to live with vibrations and noises, fuel odour and oil on the water. These are aspects are particularly important among the issues that led MME to seek alternatives to common generators.

Owner: »I had great hopes of what might be achieved with a Microturbine System, but the results totally exceeded my expectations. There is absolutely no vibration, no exhaust noise and no smell. It is almost like operating continuously on batteries without the need for recharging. I feel I have finally come back to the simple pleasures and tranquility of sailing as it used to be.«

Steiner MME Generators, Microturbine Marine Energy, The Ultimate Technology for Super Yachts
This site is currently under construction. Our new website is expected to launch on May 22nd, 2013
If you hit the legal button at the bottom of the page it shows Siegfried Steiner as the CEO

Well they got their site up and guess what? MME is powered by Capstone® Turbine Corporation with tens of millions of run hours and counting.

The trend in energy supply on Superyachts moves relentlessly towards sustainable energy. A Capstone® Microturbine provides an enormous reduction in NOx and CO2 emissions compared to traditional systems such as diesel generators. The MME system for the installation and operation of microturbines on superyachts is far ahead of the market in terms of both concept and efficiency. With a full year test phase already completed, extensive experience has enabled (and will continue to provide) high levels of optimisation to be built into this system.

    Rich people buy Superyachts
LOL been working on this one a while
    Anyone see a connection here?

Interview with the owner of superyacht Lethantia
But you have been updating Lethantia in some ways?

I began by updating the electrics and electronics, which had moved on a long way over the years. I also set up remote access via SMS [short message service], so I can check the state of everything from wherever I am: receive alarms, activate systems like heating, and even be alerted if someone goes aboard. In fact I can remotely access both the ship’s computers from my office for all sorts of purposes, even passage planning on the chart plotter. I’m now making changes to power generation and management using micro-turbine technology in place of a generator, something no other yacht has used before. This will provide highly efficient electrical power generation and, in the future, domestic heating and cooling too. Also, although Lethantia’s generators have excellent sound insulation, they will always create some background vibration, but the micro-turbine is completely vibration free. And it has air-cooled bearings and uses no oil at all, so there’s no risk of polluting the water in some beautiful anchorage with an oily exhaust.

    Shipyard Technology, The Perfect Balance
    ROYAL HUISMAN
Karl Teunis – Director of operations at Royal Huisman
What is the technology (in yards and on board yachts) that has most changed in the past five years, and what are your predictions for growth areas and change over the next five years?

Clearly, the answer for us relates to two topics: power generation and management.
Management extends to minimising fuel consumption and the suppression of noise and vibration and ultimately finding new ways to emit less at the source – basically the modus operandi is providing a new source for getting electricity. In this department we are very excited by our new MME micro-turbine technology.

International retailer to install CHP in German and Russia stores
    20/05/2013

METRO Cash & Carry, in partnership with Germany utility E.ON, is installing advanced gas-fired micro-CHP units at two of its wholesale stores in Germany and two in Russia.

The units will heat the stores and meet a portion of their electricity needs. Depending on the size of the store, the units’ electric capacity will range from 250 kW to 800 kW.

Subsequently, the installation of CHP units at four other METRO stores in Germany and at new stores opening in Russia are planned, with the future option to supplement the on-site CHP units with solar power.

E.ON will plan, finance, install and maintain the CHP units, and METRO will operate them.

The units are expected to lower the stores’ energy costs and reduce carbon emissions by up to 20%.

This is not METRO’s first foray into the realm of decentralized energy.

It has deployed distributed energy solutions at several of its sits, including it hypermarket at Schwelm in west central Germany, where an on-site micro gas turbine has been providing the facility with power and heat since 2011.
