sorry dragon. i don't get hung up on the thumbs up/downs, and i didn't rate your comment. The reason I didn't reply is because i don't really have anything constructive to add.
Right now I think all of these oil experts and analysts are like a blind man trying to describe an elephant when the speak of the future of oil prices.

    My thoughts:
About the Saudis, who the hell knows. Nobody. It's a fact that while their raw cost to produce oil is in the $20 per barrel range, their economy is built around oil over $80 per barrel. I know nothing else than that.
US shale industry will be fine. Oil needs to get down to $60 per barrel before production will be shut down. And the simple announcement by a major driller of shunting production will send oil straight up.
GST will be fine. They are the best house in a bad neighborhood right now, as well as the vulture pickings of opportunistic stock manipulators. I agree with all the reasons you state as to why they will be fine in the long run.

I feel I haven't added much with my comment. Which is why i didn't comment to begin with.

    Must be manipulation?

that's the weather forecast as of 20Oct at 11AM EST. Oil goes back above $90 or, more importantly, the manipulation ends: new forecast.
I think your use of options as a predictor is not correct at this point in time. In this case options trading is not a tell but rather a reflection of the current level of fear in GST.
GST is just way to volatile and unpredictable right now to reliably use such a small options market to predict it's direction. IMO what you are seeing is just how gun shy Long investors of GST have become.
When one of the artificial manipulators of the stock is removed the call prices and buying volume will follow it right back up.

but that's just my 2 cents....which ironically might be the stock price in 2 weeks...

IMO it's the job of the board and specifically those members added as shareholder advocates to chase away any manipulation in the stock.
They are failing thus far. A token BUY worth $70k of their money was a joke.

GST has always been a stock that during times of spikes or dips is vulnerable to manipulators piling in and coercing the price to their advantage.

My question to the board is: what are YOU doing to stop this. Because it sure doesn't look like anything has changed since we were trading at $1...

yep, i agree now after watching the price action the first 15 minutes of the open. watching the stock drop from 4.04 to 3.96 in 10k shares. then continue to decline on 10k share blocks back and forth.

there are just enough sellers to overtake the buyers at every step??....what a 'coincidence'.

here GST sits trading under $4 with oil stabilizing, the overall market bouncing up off a bottom, assets in the Marcellus worth $4.50 per share (based on recent CHK land sale), and a growing operation in the Hunton.

It's times like this that management needs to step up and defend the stock. Where is an insider buy of any significance? Where are these new directors elected to watch out for shareholders? Until the silence ends, the manipulators will remain in control.

I just don't see how you get hurt here if you are willing to wait 6 months or so. $100MM of money just told us GST is worth $6.25. i doubled my position at 5.18. At 3.65 sold another holding to be able to buy more GST.

Same strategy worked back in 2011-2013. I got a 5 bagger out of it.

amen! and might i also add, just for my own thoughts, that he needs to stop implying that he is a professional investor moving millions of dollars around in GST. If that was the case there is no WAY he would posting on a message board to 12 people. And if that IS the case he needs to stop immediately, as he's in violation of a number of SEC policies.

the double talk, erasing past posts that are flat wrong, stating his position after the moves in the stock happen.....hddriven, either post something informative or shut up. i've seen you have half a dozen chances on this board, and every time you ruin it for yourself. hence the reason why u continuously get a dozen thumbs downs even when u post something thoughtful.

sorry for late reply. I flew in late last night back to the east coast, so I was a zombie.
Reading gatr's reply, I have to say that I agree with him EXCEPT in the following point:
GST target of $6 by end of 2015. Even if oil goes to $60-70, remember GST also drills Nat Gas and NGLs.
Also consider the very point that $100MM+ dollars of money just told us the common was worth $6.25.

The only way I see GST at $6 by end of 2015 is if Oil is $60, and Nat Gas is under $3. Just don't see either happening.
My opinion is we are back to the 2ndary offering price within months. Maybe sooner. Just need stability in oil prices. Even if it stops at $75, GST is still a $8-9 stock next year.

    we will do just fine.

  • mr.mcgoo79 by mr.mcgoo79 Oct 13, 2014 3:24 PM Flag

is that if oil drops another $3 per barrel, GST can be had for 1 cent per share! LOL
that's based on the current ratio of this sell off.
this is getting absolutely nuts. Buy order setup at 3.64 now...either way i'm getting more of this in the 3.60s before end of trading day.

back during the CHK lawsuit i bought at $4, $3, $2, $1....was handsomely rewarded last yr and patience allowed all profit to be cover under LT gains. as long as fear drives the selling, i'm a buyer with both hands.

@dgiv1, investing: you're doing it right.

i guess you weren't around during the CHK lawsuit. investing in small E&Ps requires an iron resolve and a strong stomach.

translation: he just went long the preferred shares, and wants everyone to buy and bolster his position.

reality: buyers of the common at these levels will be rewarded with an easy double by 1Q next year. I am now selling some of another holding to buy GST common here at these ridiculous levels.

gotta agree with jfm here. If Porter and BOD was even thinking of a buyout they sure as hell wouldn't be willing to consider anything with the stock price stuck where it is.
GST is clearly a trading down with the sector and all small E&Ps.
frustrating for sure. but i expect anyone willing to stick out their neck here will be rewarded with a 3bagger this time next yr.

yes that is one theory, but they can't sustain this forever. And companies like GST are well hedged against something like this. It's business as usual for them until OPEC blinks and finally restores sanity to the market or the street wises up and realizes this 'supply' glut is a fabrication. Then the players like GST will rocket up.

I got 2 things, money and patience. That's all I need in this market.

hey, i'm in this until at least Jan with 1/2 my position and until next Oct with the other 1/2 of my position for tax purposes.....so while this is pretty frustrating to watch, my only real regret is not having more to put into the stock at this insane level.
