Well as a shareholder of ANR, I feel like Rocky Balboa must have felt when Apollo Creed was kicking the living daylights out of him. But today's repurchase of debt is hopefully the start of our comeback. GLTAL.
The largest U.S. coal company is valued at about 200 million; a burger joint with about 60 stores just went public and is valued at 1.7 billion. I don't know about you guys, but I'm thinking something is awfully wrong with the way markets work in this country now.
Take a look at assets and liabilities and then you can get an idea whether a company is close to bankruptcy or not. I don't think ANR is close to bankruptcy but it is not in great shape , either.
Look at today. How does a company lose 13% in one day. Did coal prices sink today??? What has changed fundamentally??
Hedgies are bad news for coal until those who want to kill coal are out of power in DC. They are in bed together. Maybe they are getting their last licks in before the midterm elections.gltal
Those b++stards are on the wrong side of their bets on the 10 year bond and oil prices. My opinion they are also short coal and they have to close their positions to raise cash to cover their margin calls on their wrong bets. gltal
Maybe mother nature has something good in store for coal this winter. Plus I'm counting on the BenStevens typhoon to land a direct hit to those Aussie coal mines. LOL. Still holding my shares- we either go to $0 or to infinity and beyond. gltal
From story in Yahoo today: "Workers at a state-of-the-art solar plant in the Mojave Desert have a name for birds that fly through the plant's concentrated sun rays — "streamers," for the smoke plume that comes from birds that ignite in midair".
Still long ANR. gltal
The typical American voter does not have a clue how clueless our President is when it comes to creating the conditions for high paying jobs in the energy sector
On the other hand, I see an eastern U.S. state importing coal as a good sign for ANR stock. in the long run. gltal
Failure to see this could cost somefolks lots of money while others make it by the bucketful. Mr. Chen has completely changed focus of bbry in his short tenure.
I'm tapped out. Downright criminal how the EPA has treated one of the few industries left in the USA. And it may get worse come June 2. I got 8000 shares and I hope we can outlast this dumb a88 admin currently in power.
A housing finance reform bill that was passed by a Senate committee is probably too late and is unlikely to gain momentum before the midterm elections, said GOP Congressman Jeb Hensarling, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, according to The Hill.
Boring steady earning company better than 10 year bond for conservative investors. I think it will get into high 20s and then it's a good deal. glta
