Denny Hastert always looked somewhat feathery in those brown loafers.
Latest Republican scandal isn't a total surprise to fans of unethical Repub pols.
Republicans who failed to graduate from hs or jc are usually in the deeply stupid group. If you are a college grad and still vote R, you are willfully stupid.
The U.S. would be better off if the Republicans don't run a candidate next year. Think of all the billions that the Koch Brothers alone would save.
Not that the Republicans care about the country as a whole, rather than catering to the richest 1%.
Nobody ever accused Bill Clinton of any mental infirmity while he was President.
Unlike Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and Richard Nixon to name the first few mentally defective Republicans who come to mind.
90% federal tax has been done before with considerable economic success in the 1940s and 1950s, so why not repeat successful policies of the past instead of fantasizing about tax cuts for the 1% to trickle down to the rest of us?
The entire nation has had quite a blast pointing at Texas and laughing over the Jade Helm affair. Paranoid Teabilly conservatives may be worthless to our country, but at least they provide us with a good chuckle from time to time.
When presidential candidates show up at every locale where they have ever lived it is little more than pandering. Rick Santorum was born in Virginia, graduated from high school in Illinois, represented Pittsburgh's South Hills in the House, and then the state of Pennsylvania in the Senate. He claimed to be a resident of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania long after he had moved to the DC suburbs so that the Penn Hills School District would pay for his children's cyber-schooling. In his second run for President announced on Wednesday, Santorum decided to return to a tiny village in Winfield Township where he grew up. It's a common strategy, but odd in Mr. Santorum's case considering how Pennsylvania voters drummed him out of office in favor of Democratic Senator Robert Casey.
Ironically, Rick Santorum chose "Take Back America" as his campaign's theme song when announcing a new presidential bid from rural Butler County, Pennsylvania.
After all, that is what Native Americans have been asking for since 1495.
Centuries ago, Delaware, Shawnee, and Iroquois peoples established hunting camps and villages in the area of modern-day Butler County.
Rick Santorum ought to stop being so snobbishly insulting to Native Americans!
Hastert was supposed to be the morally acceptable choice among Newt, Rudy, Bob Livingstone, Henry Hyde among several others. Now we know what happened to "HushHush" Hastert!
Hastert was thought to be the least ethically challenged of a bunch of Republican congressmen that included Newt Gingrich, Bob Livingstone, and Henry Hyde. As usual the Republicans' judgment was faulty as they chose another Speaker with large skeletons in his closet.
Another Jerry Sandusky type in the ranks of Republican leaders?
Who would have ever thunk it?
Democrats have be right about civil rights since WW 2. They were right about women’s rights. They were right about the environment, and yes including climate. They were right about gay rights. They were right about a social safety net, including Social Security and Medicare. They were right about Obamacare. Yes, they used to be careless about deficits, but since 1980, the GOP has been downright reckless there. After the Clinton boom, the Bush collapse and the Obama rebound, it clear the Democrats understand how to run the country better than the GOP.
Only thing the GOP can brag about is the Interstate Highway System, started by President Eisenhower in the 1950s.
The 88th Scripps National Spelling Bee has now come and gone and, just like the 87th last year, ended in a two-way tie. And, just like last year (as well as many other recent years), the champions have come from Indian ancestry. Naturally, this doesn't sit well with a certain segment of society, the members of which have made their unhappiness known in predictable social media rants. Apparently, at least one of them has also made it known to Paige Kimble, spelling bee director. Her response, however, was perfect in its simplicity:
The domination of the bee by Indian American spellers over the past 15 years has created some backlash, including an ugly outburst of racial insults on social media last year. Paige Kimble, the longtime director of the bee, said that she was approached Thursday and asked whether any “Americans” made it to the finals. “ ‘Yes, they’re all Americans,’ I told them,” Kimble said. “We obviously still have a long way to go.”
