    why buy other then SDRL

good for you! seriously. i hear the ones saying to buy on the dips. ugh. some dips never come until after a huge runup. waiting for a decline is like trying to time the market short term. not advisable.

i jumped in with everything i had in January 2009 and have continued to pump in capital when possible and approriate. i buy and sell and reinvest. i still consider this a bull market and am enjoying great yield and even better capital gains. gotta pay the IRS every April but my continued gains and yield pay them for me.

SDRL is a modest portion of my stock portfolio at 2.70% and, quite frankly, i consider it to be speculative and have doubts. still in all, i will ride the dividend, track closely and leave the rest to the market.

altho it is never too late, it is often too early. this is my second time back in. i like the company and the yield keeps me patient.

    SIX should produce. IMO

    Global Warming

interesting. the midwest, actually the whole snow belt has seen 9 consecutive months of colder than average temps. the northwest and northeast have seen much higher temps as have other global areas like Siberia however, those geographical areas experiencing global warming aren't areas PLOW sells to. what's really important is northern US and Canada so, that works for us.

I am very heavy into PLOW at 22.6% my stock portfolio. that vastly exceeds my ceiling but rules are made to be broken and i'm glad i did. capital gains and yield have been outstanding. nonetheless, i did sell off 25% my PLOW holdings earlier this week. rang the cash register and reinvested into UHT, CHL, and SIX. i am thinking that PLOW will have a tough time beating YOY earnings after the stellar 2013 Q4 and 2014 Q1 and Q2.

    am going to hold now....

    What happened today?

i've the same question. all i know is that there was a lot of selling but don't know who or why. the Ruskies shoot down one of our AYR planes?
in a bad day in the markets, i was actually doing quite well until AYR brought me down.
a selloff like today felt like a SO announcement.
let us know if you can find anything.
hopefully we bounce back quick and was just fallout from the Ukraine shelling a Ruskie column.

  • i like the trend lately. volume strong, consistent overall up trend to PPS. outperforming DJI.

REITs are a little spooky but yield is great. with good capital returns, that yield is even better.

hope to see some posts here....

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • expectations are for increased revenue and earnings due to increase in consumer spending and increased disposable income. i think SIX will do better with cheaper gasoline pump prices and favorable weather. tho the P/E is high, the yield is good.

this sure is a quiet board. hope to see more posts....

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

ha ha. just read your post. Cramer pumped ALU too. since that time, ALU down 11.72%. I track it because I sold it a week after he shamelessly pumped it.

gonna ride CHL for a bit tho. not in very big but still nearly 2% my stock portfolio.

I appreciate your posts and hope to see more.

not me. i like what i read and like what i see. it is invariably true that once a pop has landed, based on a good report (revenues up tho earnings down), the trend continues (all market variables being equal). what with the good yield and market share opportunities, i just bought in.

you sell or are you simply short? if short, you just got clobbered on top of your dividend coverage.

osutton, i just checked. this is your one and only post. your member history dates back to the date of your post of July 22, 2014.

you aren't simply a pumper, you look to be a company shill trying to protect your investment. i am sure you realize with this tiny float that if even 1 buyer sold 1000 shares in a day, the bottom would drop out.

first, you need to know the proper use of "your" and "you're". not knowing basic English goes to your lack of credibility.

secondly, it is all about What have you done for me lately. reference the chart.

also, the dividend distribution is literally 0. There are no regular dividends but ony distributions.

ever try to sell UBFO? a nasty surprise as the float is so small the share price drops from underneath you as you sell. not enough buyers.

this position is what is referred to as a POS. i would never endorse it and my recommendation is to avoid. not just my opinion but also that of McGraw Hill Financial based on an S&P Investability Quotient Percentile of only 18%. that is horribly low.

while it is usually a good sign to see insiders buying and holding, institutional investment is only 7%. wow. that is scarey as the risk is high. could drop like a rock in an up market.

    no, not me.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

  • with good volume. all things being equal (and not another SO) am expecting MAIN to be steady until next earnings report in early Nov. my expectations are to see MAIN beat analysts projections of $.54/share.

"MAIN reported 2nd quarter 2014 earnings of $0.53 per share on August 7, 2014. This met the consensus of the 8 analysts following the company."

FLY ripe for inversion with someone like AL...

possible but doubtful. actually, there is too much doubt with this position and i just totally liquidated it - again. hate to turn my back on such a great yield and their latest earnings were solid. also nice to see them purchase 2 more planes. however, the filing simply spooks me. the last S.O. was pitiful. FLY took way way too long to invest the capital after diluting ownership. would (of course) much rather have seen a buyback program initiated.

not taking a chance here. will continue to hold AYR which is breaking out the last couple weeks. will observe FLY and see what they intend to do with the filing. another S.O., i will buy back in after the dust settles.

on a nonstock note, in March we vacationed in Fredericksburg and on our return home, took a detour and spent an afternoon in Gettysburg. VERY glad we took the time. powerful and majestic. awe inspiring. got back and read 2 books and watched the movie - again. 150th anniversary.

as for EXC, i sold it all yesterday. altho i missed the days run today, i had put proceeds down on WY and ARCC. did rather well there.

yes, it certainly has. i opened another position on FLY yesterday and i am not seeing the correlation / relationship i had bet on. nonetheless, AYR was tough for me to hold and it is finally paying off. am down less than a 1% while reaping the yield. to your point, in the midst of a market pullback (and it is indeed ugly).
