  • The world price for oil may no longer apply to the US market in the near term. By not allowing oil exports at a time when storage capacity is coming to its limits it is conceivable to have a separate US oil price, not unlike when dry NG sold for under $2 in the US but sold for $9 in Europe. The feasibilty of converting NG to a liquid state may rescue US NG but not its oil. History may repeat in a different form.

The stock is an excellent value play at these levels. It does not need nonsense posts.

  • EIA projects the Brent crude oil price will average $59/bbl in 2015 with prices rising from an average of $56/bbl in the second quarter to an average of $67/bbl in the fourth quarter. The Brent crude oil price is projected to average $75/bbl in 2016.
This should mean a recovery for UPL in 2016, at least as far as oil profits.
With UPL's low cost NG production I am not overly concerned about the price of NG. Most expect it to be in the $3 range later in the year. I still se a hit coming in the short run but I am definately getting ready to jump in in the not too distant future.

Three auto makers have put out hydrogen cars this year in California. Toyota has the most interesting and viable of the three models. Of course they have a severe infrastructure problem but California has agree to fund the hydrogen expansion efforts. NG trucks have already done a rollout and do not appear to be threatened at this time. It would be most interesting if the auto industry ends up with hydrogen, not NG cars. No matter, it would be a long way off and not relevent to the UPL stock price for at least a few years...

Zacks comments downed this stock today. I am sure they bought plently at these low levels.

Actually according to the call UPL makes money with $70 oil. That implies that it does not do so well with oil under $70. The next earnings report will more clearly demonstrate this. They make money with NG above $2.20 and NG should be trading the mid $3 range in a few more months. Where did you get your $50 figure? I think I know where you pulled it out of.

  • Greenspan thinks that the price of WTI crude, the US benchmark for oil prices, is going to keep going lower.

    Here's what Greenspan said:

If you look at the data, as you just pointed out, our major domestic facility is in Cushing, Oklahoma, which is delivery point for West Texas Intermediate crude contracts. We are at the point now where, at the current rate of fill, we’re going to run out of room in Cushing by next month.

UPL does have the option of cutting down on oil production where they are losing money and increasing NG production where they are making money even at these low NG price levels. The stock price may suffer in the near term but I see a rebound for this super efficient NG producer. I am watching closely. If only I could get in at exactly the right time..

This person maligns people on this and other boards. He assumes I still own every stock I ever purchased when it suits him to spout out his insults. He never discusses anything of substance about the investment . He helps no one. Please use report abuse whenever you see his posts. He is damaging the boards with his wasteful rants.

XCO has a PE of 3

The trailing PE is irrelevent. This company will pass $5 a share if it survives but that is not a guarantee. I would say however it is probable. One may question why it is necessary to take on this type of risk when safer beaten up energy stocks are available. This is why I don't see the rebound here in the near term but I do believe this could be a terrific longball hit. Watching and enjoying the excitement.

  • In the meantine I picked up PQ today at $2 as it capitulated. XCO may fall a bit further before it makes a comeback.

Others are here to discuss the company or industry. You are here to attack people who are doing the best they can to make sense of the market. I take some satisfaction in that, based on your posts, your personal life must be miserable. You are a selfish rat who inevitably will get what you deserve.

I would not take that bet. You are probably correct and I will not get my price. I am seeing signs of stability in the energy market. I have certain plays that I am in currently that I would need to sell to get back into UPL and would only do so if effectively the stock price is "an offer I could not refuse". Under $12 would likely be that offer (IMHO).

I still plan to enter this stock between $10 - 12 a share. They did not plan properly for these tough times and are paying a price but they are one of the lowest cost producers of NG in the country. It is possible that the stock decline will overshoot to under $10 from the momentum of the downswing but I will average down from my entry point if it does. The current downgrade was predictable. The winter is ending, oil is still low and there is no letup in sight. Still, I expect this stock to hit $30 a share within the next few years, after it gets crushed.

I do not presently have SWN and only an insignificant position in XCO. I am making excellent money elsewhere in what I believe to be safer plays. You should try to post facts and legitimate opinions instead of always attacking people. Your posts have gotton boring. They are always the same.
