it is called being paid by shorts to issue an opinion. we cant directly contradict ourselves so we can say the company is awesome and could even rise another $2!!! but with only another $2 of upside maybe you have to be cautious of the other awesome companies getting into the field. it might also serve a buyer who wants cheaper shares to accumulate. either way, very odd behavior. zacks looks like a clown in someone's pocket.

there are no share available to short? of course there are. they can naked short the shares to $1. these guys dont put a 1.5 billion on the don't come line without a plan and a lot of fire power. they are not drinking anything and they can close out positions whenever they want. to attribute the sell-off after earnings to zacks is silly. the traders and market makers cut the legs out of the stock on great earnings. it was a baller move and they made hundreds of millions in gains from it. as for the short squeeze, there never was a short squeeze. and mygn has not announced any game changing news to stampede in long money. if they disappoint at all or guide lower, the stock will get crushed. they know that. all the big money is standing pat now.

under no circumstances would the management and board be so foolish as to invest in this company. they have had a million chances to invest. why do that when you can issue yourself free shares? the lack of buying is a clear signal of the confidence that they have in the model. but you dont just close the doors when you can ride it out and drain the cash.

and it is good that all the horrible product ideas have been shelved. halloween soda? really? michigan made soda is a business model for a public company?

you are underestimating the shorts i think. however, the stock is easily pushed down on volume days like today in a down market, and odd to me, they are not putting pressure on it. if they were not confident enough to add more to the position, you would think they would close it. their only hope is for a poor earnings report or lowered guidance. this is what zacks is suggesting will happen. i think this is a very dangerous trade long or short now, unless you hedge.

  • Myriad Genetics (NASDAQ:MYGN) was downgraded by Zacks from an “outperform” rating to a “neutral” rating in a research note issued on Wednesday. They currently have a $39.00 price target on the stock. Zacks‘s target price suggests a potential upside of 5.26% from the company’s current price.

this is rather interesting change of mood. you wonder who gets paid on such things. google news mygn. zacks suggests that although everything is great, the court ruling will add competition and hurt sales. weird stuff. i tell you it is all about who you know on wall street and who your friends are. the shorts have to feel that an earnings miss is lining up for them. if that happens, then you have a $23 stock in the absence of prostate news. the shorts are being very patient now, but they are not pushing the price down. they seem to be waiting for events to go their way.

when walmart reverses course, she will leave. and that day is coming. read recent walmart comments on shoppers not having money to afford walmart. they will flush the shelves of slow movers and high price items. fiat and walmart are the two pillars of support here. think about it. the board clearly no longer cares. the employees will stay as long as the checks clear. another 60 days to the start of tax loss season. and it is obvious the summer sucked again. there are so many capable people out there. how did jones wind up with current management?

for the record, if the company were losing reasonable money but growing a brand at 50% - 100% a year, then i have no objection. breakfast mountain dew, first year sales are 100 million. there are people who know how to launch products and grow brands. just not here.

huh? reeds is a public company. i am an owner. 25 years and 40 million in sales? is that good? for a public company? no profit. negative return on investment for ipo buyers after 7 years? it is horrible performance. as for 20% growth top line.... is it good that the revenue is growing when sales are at a loss. they sell soda below cost and that is a great achievement? this is chris reeds hobby business, not a company run for its owners.

lol. ridiculous! you think a 1 or 2% dividend is going to change the betting positions on mygn? they crushed earnings and raised guidance and the stock sold off. earnings trade for a multiple of 15x. a little dividend isnt going to affect a thing. what will change the street is either a big long player that people fear or increased earnings guidance that compress the pe further.

reed is approaching the business like he is wavy gravy (look it up). everything has to be weird and different. except that it is a beverage company, for profit, with listed shares. the basic problem with that is no one else is playing along. not retailers, bottlers, shippers, distributors, accountants, consumers.... hey vegans! win the cash equivalent of common stock by filling out our facebook form? wow, how wholesome.

it is as if - literally - there has never been a successful beverage company before and he thinks he must invent the industry. hey chris, neil young is cool. neil young is surrounded by professionals at the top of their field. stop trying to re-invent the wheel. btw, you know exactly who would do some BS sweepstakes thinking it would sell beverages? jones. this is exactly what the clowns at jones would do.

you know who cant keep a cfo? jones. oops. reed. oops jones. what do the cfos seem to figure out before everyone else?

the clowns at reeds need to merge with the clowns at jones so they can fail to be successful together.

the real question is why are the brands not being properly marketed? is CR still trying to be "different?" watch the sweepstakes and labeling changes impact earnings.

  • netprophecy2 by netprophecy2 Jul 8, 2014 12:36 PM Flag

what a nice time to establish your brand. unfortunately, the marketing campaign looks like it was conceived by pet cat. sweepstakes are a joke. a lazy device that does not have any lasting impact or maybe any impact at all. it is the strategy of CR as a hobbyist. 25 years and still losing money? think about it. #$%$? was it a 25 year long fluke? look at what GT did in far less than 25 years. how is it that REED has faired so poorly by comparison as a beverage company?

how dare you sir? reeds is the coke of the natural beverage market. how indeed could GT impact Reeds? impossible! wait, i think reeds is the coke of the natural carbonated root beer or ginger brew four pack market. so actually i guess gt could kick its #$%$. unless.... unless they take out a print in ad in vegetarian news times week. that my friend is how you market kombucha. (as opposed to sending out tasting demonstration representatives which is very labor intensive and not cool man). me, i get all my beer preferences from print ads. i think most people do.

sam, that is essentially a sell notation by RBC in support of the short position. remember its a billion dollar plus short. they are not to be taken lightly. the buying pressure is not supported by volume yet. so the shorts can break this rally easily. i expect they will without support of news from mygn. there is NO short squeeze here. someday. but not now. and carolyn is an abject moron.

  • the buying was quarter end re-balancing. it is overbought technically (just and indication). the shorts are not on the run at this point. dont get too happy just yet.

sorry, it is more evidence of a lack of understanding of the market and the idea of a hobbyist. they have been pushing the idea of mainstream distribution for K. of course GT utterly dominates the health category so that makes sense to seek new markets. but there is no marketing support for mainstream. instead they are marketing in vegan print? the product is not configured to succeed in vegan/health. GT is. hence the slowing sales. there is no marketing vision. hire someone from hansens or red bull for pete's sake. stop trying to re-invent the wheel. breakfast mountain dew, first year sales forecasts are 100 million. breakfast mountain dew. hire the guy who markets breakfast mountain dew.

  • i was afraid of this. the IOT build-out appears to be headed by companies who essentially leap-frogged elon. so they have a legacy system that may be appealing to utilities somewhat but i think a google or samsung has no interest in what they have to say at elon. they easily could have been Nest but they forgot to innovate. it would appear that a bankruptcy is almost being priced in at this point. another poor quarter and i think the ship is abandoned. so much dynamic change in IOT and nothing out of elon it seems.

i doubt this is a coincidence. if new management is going to be more aggressive, then you need a different guy to run that expansion. however, i still see no business plan. what am i missing?
