i dont believe that. if anything it is people who bought at 32-32 taking profit at resistance lines. mygn is trading down from all resistance points so it is a smart play. they have no news to announce to make the stock advance. they have not had any for a while. it is all hot air at this point and downward revisions of earnings. someday they may recover growth from the mythical markets they have been describing for years but have not developed. like "europe". they do not know where asia is.
wellpt made a dopey comment. you are right, it is a legit investment. it could be great, if chris reed learns how to grow a company and a brand and a product, before someone comes in a does it for him. and i doubt that it is more than a year off before the majors start coming in with artisanal brands and essentially crush reed occupying the middle ground. i hear the footsteps, but chris does not.
with the beginning of summer the enthusiasm for jones is near the lowest ever. well done. well done. you have a derivative and inferior me too product for every application. super good job. 33 cents. you dont understand a single thing about soda still. depending on labels, photos, giveaways, promotions. not a care in the world about the products that are making billions for small entrepreneurs. breweries being bought out for hundreds of millions left and right as craft and organic explode. but you know that millennials are unhealthy, unsophisticated morons who will buy colored, preserved, chemical laden soda because it has a photo of a dog on it. like whoopass. same assumptions. stripped. ooh a sex reference. lets sell that to kids too. its a pun. ooh we are so entertaining. we just cannot sell soda. so congratulations for keeping the lobby decorated.
ultracapacitors. ask what kind of hammocks they are ordering for the summer. ask what were the three top most important UC inventions they come up with in the last 10 years using the billions in cash flow available to them? ask him why the market is at record highs, but maxwell is near record lows. then ask them why they didnt actually do anything about it to pivot the business.
this corning nonsense is just that. a distraction and nonsense. they should have dozens of research collaborations. so maybe in 2025 some product will come from the relationship that can be sold and maybe it will be profitable. struggling under $6 in 2015 is damning. it clearly means fink hasnt caught the imagination of a damn single person.
5 million for this technology isnt a huge amount of money. it is a pittance. these guys couldnt innovate their way out of a paper bag. they are stunningly passive. tesla went out and presented a complete electrical storage solution for enterprise class applications. maxwell says they can do it too, if someone would only ask them to. tesla is a much younger company than maxwell. much. musk went out and made a car from scratch. maxwell made a trade show booth and asked people to maybe include a component in their designs. they make excuses. chinese excuses. it is not credible that they have a business plan any more. they have hope that lower cost manufacturers will not take all their business away.
keeps trying to get through mild resistance but cannot. nice prostate results and no benefit. you might think that a company that just announced a radical change of how prostate cancer is treated - affecting middle age plus men - the most monied demographic in the world, might have made a headline on the news. but the crack team of buffoons in the myriad PR and marketing departments managed to utterly bury the story, much to the thrill of the shorts. seriously how are these people employed still?
you are delusional. no one is interested in purchasing mxwl for $11 a share, or probably any other price. why would you purchase this company? it is a nightmare of losses and uneven sales and new competition. if anything it would sell as a take-under. Commodity UCs are not a very desirable purchase for anyone. no player out there so needs maxwell's products as to want to drop a quarter billion. i think people will start to dabble in the hope of a resurgence driven by auto sales. the stock will drift up as there is not much left on the downside and it is already off 65%.
and todays news release is a perfect example of old reed. local event. minor impact. surf competition. this is their marketing. savagely poor.
i have seen no evidence of a coup at reed. hiring a guy to supervise lines and a guy to be cfo isnt a coup at all. i see nothing yet to show me a changed company. i hope these changes are made, but i see nothing, at all, to indicate sharp planning and innovative marketing. when a whole foods beverage stocker says that reed used to be the number one but no longer is, i do not ignore it. especially when he says reed is no shipping to fill orders and when the store moves the product to the bottom shelf as low margin and low priority. if i were the reed rep to that store, i would be flipping out. all the kombucha products i have seen in every store where i have seen it carried have downgraded placement and frontings. i reported this effect well before chris came on the call and said they had their ass handed to them in k. so much so that it has been a footnote for the last 2 calls.
you miss the point entirely. all it is in one store in a major market with one manager. however, what happens when that manager shows reports that one beverage is leading sales and revenue? does the region examine that data? at whole foods? is it fatal to reed? of course not. does it show that category is becoming competitive after a decade of no competition? it does.
good to hear. however, competition is coming, so you will start seeing changes. that is what the consumer wants. not the same item every time they go the store. especially not in palo alto. as we speak the store management is looking for alternative brands. hence all the press on cost and Q and GUS. same thing that happened in Kombucha where reed got booted. reed will do well. it should get to $7 this summer. it should have been at $27 now with a national reputation. no company with $1 million per state per year in sales is a national "brand". in LA, there are real estate agents working alone with more in sales and profit than reeds just selling apartments. its not that hard of a business.
having read the shareholders report, it appears jen still is lost. she should be cfo. she should not be doing what she is doing. however the "board" is off eating pizza somewhere. there is no hope at this point with clowns at the controls. it is astonishing. there is also no longer a seasonal pattern here. the performance is that bad. this q and next should show slight profit (maybe 50 grand or some nonsense at 0 cents per share, with jen crowing how she cut expenses, but flat sales - investor nightmare. no growth, no interest in the brand, despite the rah rah love #$%$ from cue. this should not be public. it might then be profitable for an owner operator without the compliance work and accounting.
be stillborn. any potential member researching the company would have to be concerned that the product was not fully backed by a viable company. it is looking increasingly like a penny stock gambit. i am not sure why they did this.
think about that. $8.99 cost outselling $3.50 reed. and WF is promoting cost since the margin is awesome for them. wow. the power of shelf placement. but everything else about the cost product is better and newer. reed is asleep at the switch. bruce cost is a chef in ny. he understands what is going on. reed is a surfer and understands what? 8 foot peaks? be right down!! gnarly dude.
number one seller in store for ginger. bruce cost. $8.99 four pack. eye level. all skus in stock.
number 2 seller in store reeds. bottom shelf 1/2 skus missing. two four packs for $7.
only cream soda in stock of the sodas. empty slots otherwise.
manager said they are not getting their orders filled from reed. partial orders coming in. and of course no kombucha at all. not a sku they carry.
this incompetence is costing millions and costing the brand image. hence bruce cost taking over at double the price.
"new". yes. "new" fink is really doing a great job. he is like the elon musk of UCs. i love all the press releases about new applications and new technologies coming out of the labs. i love all the press releases about exciting applications they found and all the universities they are working with. oh, wait. i am being told that there havent been any of those. nevermind.
alt energy space at multi-year lows. maxwell has actually managed to be one of the worst companies to invest in the in the entire market over the last year. issue some options to celebrate.
at what point does the board demand action?
i purchased a reed's ginger brew. it turned out to be the extra ginger brew. hard to read label. i actually fought the urge to buy the bruce cost 66.
