Well Libya obviously and to a lesser extent the Israeli occupation of Hezbollah territories but dynamics have changed much since then. If Iran and Russia can get a solid hold in a large swath of territory in Syria then they can start statecrafting throughout the middle east by using proxies via Yemen or beyond to attack SA infrastructure. Either SA is going to cut output or someone is going to do it for them.
