Even without Belphen or smoking Cessation, they will not have to raise any cash. They have $219mil + $58.5mil + $22.5Mil = $300 million.

  • news_to_use news_to_use Sep 9, 2014 6:50 PM Flag

No kidding! Yes, they'll have negative cash flows this year. That means nothing, and is in my cash flow spreadsheet.

  • Despite the nonsense you read here, there is no dilution coming. The company has over 22 months of cash on hand if it would not sell another pill starting today. In addition, Arena has $22.499 million proceeds from stock issuance coming over the next 18 months (already accounted for in diluted shares) and $58.5 million in milestones and collaborative agreement payments due over the next 18 months. They will go cash flow positive in first quarter of 2016. In addition Orphan drug status will cut their R&D by at least $15 million, plus as sales volume grows their manufacturing margins also increase. Any additional partnerships will also bring in additional cash. Do not listen to shortsellers. There will be no dilution.

  • Injectable + no insurance coverage for weight loss + more than 3 times cost of Belviq + cancer means Victoza is DOA. Even if insurance were to cover it, the co-pay at many insurance companies would be as much or more than paying cash out of pocket for Belviq!

  • news_to_use news_to_use Sep 9, 2014 12:03 PM Flag

Victoza is not covered by insurance for weight loss. Belviq insurance coverage has just reached 70%. With Victoza 3 times the cost of Belviq and less effective, I think it is safe to say that it will be little to no competition - much ado about nothing. 41% of people in trials reported repeated vomiting (which seems strange for an injectable). Could this be the source of Victoza's weight loss?

  • During one 52-week clinical trial, 6,090 patients who received Victoza once a day as a stand-alone treatment saw a 1.1 percent decrease in A1C (which measures the average glucose concentration over a two- to three-month period) when taking 1.8 mg of the drug; patients taking 1.2 mg averaged a 0.8 percent decrease. Patients lost an average 5.5 pounds with a 1.8 mg dosage; for patients taking a 1.2 mg dosage, the average weight loss was 4.6 pounds.

  • Important Safety Information

In animal studies, Victoza® caused thyroid tumors—including thyroid cancer—in some rats and mice. It is not known whether Victoza® causes thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) in people, which may be fatal if not detected and treated early. Do not use Victoza® if you or any of your family members have a history of MTC or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). While taking Victoza®, tell your doctor if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. These may be symptoms of thyroid cancer.

Do not use Victoza® if you are allergic to liraglutide or any of the ingredients in Victoza®. Serious allergic reactions can happen with Victoza®. If symptoms of serious allergic reactions occur, stop taking Victoza® and seek medical attention. Pancreatitis may be severe and lead to death. Before taking Victoza®, tell your doctor if you have had pancreatitis, gallstones, a history of alcoholism, or high blood triglyceride levels since these medical conditions make you more likely to get pancreatitis.

The reason this is down today

I'm not short. I'm very long. I'm just stating what Tilson said. Do you not want to understand why a stock is acting the way it is? Obviously Tilson and his buddies have been shorting ARNA the last couple weeks going into this event. I bought much more today. I think Tilson is very wrong. His record on shorting is terrible.

He actually said he believes it will drop another 50% because of competition and poor sales and that ARNA is behind on their required study.

  • Whitney Tilson named ARNA as one of his top short-selling ideas at the Value Investors Congress in New York today.

These are absolutely fantastic numbers. This is the biggest vacation week of the year. 48% of doctors polled said they took vacation in August also. I am very surprised to see this increase. It is just a short matter of time until the stock price follows. Great news!

These are incredibly good numbers for this time of the year with one of the heaviest vacation weeks of the year and people also starting back to school in some parts of the country, They are growing at 38% QOQ trend. What a steal this company is at today's price!

  • Shorts pushed this down to get out before OREX which rumor has it, isn't going to fly. Fools selling, while smart money buys.

  • Anyone know why they are late filing quarterlies? Are they being delisted?

I recieved a request yesterday afternoon from someone I had previously contacted and whom I greatly respect, that I not post it. I therefore am not posting it and will make no further comments on it.

Just keep believing that all those anti-gun women and demon rats are going to do all their shopping there and bail you out - and keep yourself numb by drinking more beer. When you run out of money and go broke in this stock call Obama and ask him to expand foodstamps to beer purchases - it's actually alot healthier than that Coco Cola that you can now buy with foodstamps!

  • No one with a concealed carry will ever shop there again. I, my family, and all my friends shun Target. We will never ever give them 1 penny. All Christian groups groups will never shop there again. It started with Target throwing out the Salvation Army, then going pro-Obama, then anti-gun. Only job killing DEMON RATS (Democrats for you too stupid to understand) and/or #$%$ will shop there. Target has lost half their customer base. Please don't sell your shares and move on. I want to see all you #$%$ and Demon rats lose you assets.

  • There is some problem with this board so I'll post it later today but I sent it off to some heavy hitters I know and 3 funds who buy stocks like this. In summary ARNA will have $145 million in cash at the end of 2015, which will be the low point for cash (six quarters from now), and cash will keep expanding from there. There will be no need for additional financing. My projection is very conservative and assumes current level of R&D spending of $28 million per quarter(annual R&D $112 million) which is very high. and also current trendline of Q/Q growth. I also related it to Lee Kozlowski projections. I will post when Yahoo board is more stable.

This is from a past message that I copied "Its not about promoting the combination it is about the "news" of the combination results spreading around town, about people who take Phen asking to take Belviq on the side, it is about people learning that the combination result is a 1-2 punch to help reduce cravings, improve satiety and burn fat.

I presume ARNA/Eisai can run a couple 24 week safety trials. What they are likely to see is increased BP and HR and other SEs correlated with Phen. Safety trials should include arm of pure Phen to see if BelPhen causes an increase over Phen alone, or whether maybe BelPhen combo mitigates some of the increase from Phen alone.

It's really just about getting word out indirectly rather than advertising. Word is already spreading among WS analysts e.g. Leerink spoke to investors and reporting on their "expert network" more than 50% of people taking combo show greater than 15% wt loss in 3 months from the combo. Word will spread from the results, without promoting the combo directly.
