Why should he debate the affordable care act when it is on the books and being implemented as we speak. It was approved by the house by the way. The dept should be a separate issue. altogether. It should be against the law to hold the debt hostage. All because a small faction of a party will not giive up their position on the issues. What happened to compromise on both sides of the fence. Sorry for the off topic but these guys rile me with their stupid remarks. Go back to or go to school and get a decent education.
A pair of breakthroughs in the field of silicon photonics by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Micron Technology Inc. could allow for the trajectory of exponential improvement in microprocessors that began nearly half a century ago -- known as Moore's Law -- to continue well into the future, allowing for increasingly faster electronics, from supercomputers to laptops to smartphones. Others have tried to integrate photonics onto existing silicon substrate without much success primarily because it required a substantial investment in re-tooling..Not so with this technology. The existing infastructure remains the same.
OT - You have not got a clue. This country was built on compromise between the two houses and the president. The debt is a separate issue. Tell me why the republicans and the Tea party in particular, want to piece meal the debt problem? So that we can go through this again and again three months later? Of course Obama refuses to negotiate on the affordable care act. It is already a law. If the republicans want to change it file an amendment and/or put it to commitee. The president wants to raise the debt ceiling. It's been done 42 times before and passed by both houses each time. We need to do again because the republicans under Bush got us into a mess even worse then we thought it would be. Now , under Obama and the Democrates, jobs are returning and the economy is growing. By the way everyone thinks the general public should have the same health care as politicians. Guess what, Obamacare is practically identical to the Federal health Benefit Plan that politicians get. The one difference is that it is open to everyone not just politicians. This will not come back on the democrates. it rests squarly on the shoulders of the Tea Party and the speaker of the house.
What VOD sees in Europe is the potential for growth and service. They will own Europes wireless market. They have minimized their debt load to make it possible. Seems to me Colao has the right plan.
Anyone thinking they can trade VOD on the technicals are asking for trouble. Right now the technicals say overbought across the board. (RSI),W&R, FSTOCH). The algorithms for these technicals do not account for any of the recent realignment activity. So they cannot be relied on. The best thing to do is hold until sometime in 2014 when things settle out. I was trading on the techs prior to the Sept announcement. Fortunatly I was in when the news hit. Right now it is all good. But we're not done yet.....
I believe the activity today is more a reaction to the continueing Euro crisis as it relates to Greece and Spain. VOD, more than anything, needs a stable Europe now that it is divesting itself of any revenue stream from vzw. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the short term.
I do not necessarily disagree. The thrust of the post was the word temper. Although your reasoning is quite good.
You must have misunderstood my post(s). I maintain a longterm position in vod for the very reasons you mention and a few more you did not. But I also float a smaller position which allows me to take advantage of short term swings in the valuation. I got out of vod with this short term money because my gut was telling me that it was stuck and might devalue for awhile. (Technically it was over bought. Both my gut and the technicals told me so) Got out at 34.11 if it goes even to 32 I might get back in. Making a couple grand in the process. Thus reducing my exposure everytime. At my age I am really in it for the div. But I am quite successful with reading the underlying valuation - not 100% but I would say I am in the 80% bracket. So it is a win either way - without getting into options. That is pretty much how I play the game. To answer your concern - I am not worried or nervous.
There are plenty of reasons to temper your enthusiasm for VOD with a little reality. Do not fall in love with a stock simply because you have convinced yourself that everything will workout. T may not come to the party, European market wireless market growth is stagnent, India is a problem, and Africa is an unknown. The deal with VZW is not out of the woods yet. I see support at $31 - $31.5 as a possibility before we get to $35. Or not -
Raising the debt ceiling many times does not make the next rise any better then the first. But what Bush set in motion with his administration is like a supertanker trying to stop in open water. The inertia, even with the engines in full reverse, does not stop the tanker for several miles. Believe it or not the economy is getting better, unemployment is going down, housing starts are increasing. We need to increase the debt to keep the recovery going. If we can get the economy on track the debt will start a slow recovery also. Just putting two wars behind us will help. We need a free market system for health care. All this administration is doing is ensuring that everyone can get affordable health care. insurance.
Patience is key here. I like their continued investments in technologies and their working relationships with MIT and others. In this market technology investment is crucial.
No prpoblem. I hope it works for you also....
Truth is the technicals say MU is overbought. RSI (Relative Strength Index) is 80. Bollinger is up against the high side. All the technical say sell. But the volume and MACD say otherwise. I believe the market is anticipating a good qtr report. The trend line would indicate we continue on this path until news. If its good the trend will take a step above the high side then trail off to a new support level. Just speculating - I'm not always correct. If I were I would not be here speculating.
I never listen to anyone who has a pinecone stuck up their #$%$ You need to find someone to remove that for you. If you cannot follow along with how trading works you should find some other line of interest.
Surprisingly I still have hope for thermodox combined with radio frequency ablation - it just makes sense - as do the company officers who lost considerably more than most the investors. I got rid of the majority of my pos on the announcement but held on to a few shares. I have been in VOD for many years for the dividends. Beginning in march of this year I started trading on the technicals - In that time I have done well. I have about eight stocks that I run analysis on NGG is another good stock that I have done well with. How about you how do you trade?
After having declared technicals as useless here. I couldn't resist taking a little off the table that I had bought at $31.31. The overbought condition was too compelling for this old contrarian. Still holding all of my original investment but had invested a little more a couple weeks ago which I will play with.
