If it were 22m we would be in the teens. I like that "Decimal lives matter". Yes they do and don't be fooled by how small those little decimals are, they can matter big time.

The first post is exactly the reason this has to be pushed by TV ads to educate patients and doctors. As the pharmacist posted over the weekend this has to be patient driven by TV ads because some doctors are stuck in the mud.

1st you have to prove they lied, then you have to prove damages as a result of their lie. Then you have to find an Attorney that would accept the stupid lawsuit, take about 7 - 8 years and if you're really, really lucky you would get your 12 cents.

I know something about class actions and this does not qualify....Got that shorty?

The hard work has been done by MNKD but responsibility for marketing of Afrezza is in SNY's hands. However, I have yet to be impressed with their efforts. If they put the time and resources to push Afrezza, it will be a massive success. Current users love it and call it life changing but more diabetics need to be informed; the word has to get out there.

SNY needs to live up to their contractual obligation or else they will lose Afrezza. Afrezza will be a huge success with or without SNY.

thanks for the reply. Of course these lines have been ordered for some time now and recently put into place, tested, etc. So the possibility, when the equipment was ordered they anticipated great script levels and they have said as much. Now that the equipment is up and running I haven't seen any additional mfg. jobs advertised. I don't imagine these lines will be running at full capacity anytime soon, unless SNY gets off its dead #$%$ and starts to push this thing in some meaningful way. I hope I'm wrong and that Hakan and Phiffer at the upcoming 2nd Q CC will be pulling rabbits out of their hats.

Are you on Psychotropic drugs? You are bordering on being totally delusional and with that twisted interpretation of the text, you may be dangerous. I'm not a biochemist, have never claimed to be a biochemist and certainly don't play one on TV. Gets some help, you are way off in LaLa Land.

Admittedly I don't know what is taking place behind the scenes at SNY, but from what I see their priorities are not with Afrezza. If their efforts do not pick up, I believe they are not living up to their contractual obligation and MNKD should go to their plan B. In a nut shell, MY Plan B would be to announce that we are going it ALONE in the US and need a Big Pharma partner for the rest of the world. The partnership would be a much more favorable deal than what we have with SNY....maybe something like a 50/50 split of the bottom line on the rest of the world. 100% MNKD US, and 50/50 on the rest of the world.

Of course we would have to raise some money and much of that would go to a real marketing program. Then watch the sales roll in!

Al Mann has 960 million of his own money in getting Afrezza to market. Like me, he would like a return on his investment. Al Mann has stated that Afrezza could be the biggest selling drug in history and if handled correctly I certainly agree with him. In my opinion SNY efforts started promising but in recent times has declined and is now failing.

  • Attention Big Pharma, if you want a blockbuster that will revolutionize the treatment of diabetes and make you the really Big Pharma on the world stage, make a bid for Afrezza. SNY has seemingly put Afrezza in the attic for now.....almost all of their attentions and resources are being devoted to Toujeo, LixiLan-O, and a few others.

Users of Afrezza absolutely love it and many have stated a renewed feeling of wellness and almost forget they have diabetes. Unbelievable control, ultrafast acting, peaks in 12 - 15 minutes, leaving a small tail and users have reported no hypoglycemic events. They go to bed at night without the fear of not waking up the following morning.

Also Afrezza is monomer human insulin that is bonded to a carrier called Technosphere. Technosphere is an inert nano particle that bonds to protein with a negative electric charge. It has the unique ability to stabilize unstable particles like monomer insulin. When it hits the lining of the lung it totally separates from the protein (monomer insulin), it loses its electric charge and dissolves. It is so small; it then passes completely through the lung lining and out of the body through the urine. That is the major reason, there is no cancer risk with Technosphere as compared to other carriers and human insulin is insulin and that flow in every healthy human’s blood stream.

So if I were a big Pharma, I would be talking to MNKD before another beats me to the punch.

  • Yeah...I'm a hospital pharmacist in suburban St.Louis. We operate much the same way. One of our staff serves on the P&T Committee. Our Formulary is "closed" until a doctor requests something new be added. Then, it's reviewed and then added. If a patient comes into the hospital, taking something different, we try to obtain it so that they can continue treatment.

Our Chief Endocrinologist serves on our P&T Committee. He's a Novo guy. Got us to convert to Novolog and Levemir pens a few years ago. Those pens are close to being our most expensive items. I work evenings and a lot of our time is spent tracking down lost pens that the nurses misplace.
I've met our Chief Endocrinologist in the hallway a few times. Nice guy. He's Indian and in his late 50s. Most of his professional life has been spent titrating Novolog. He's good at it. He writes insanely sophisticated insulin orders based on carb loads(.....which his patients won't follow.) I've asked him about Afrezza. "You can't titrate inhalable insulin." Somehow, I'm feeling like he's reciting what the Novo rep has told him.

Afrezza doesn't hang around in the body after the three-hour mark when the stomach empties, thereby dropping the BG, causing hypoglycemia...like Novolog. You don't have to eat a snack at that time...like you do with Novolog....which causes another spike in BG....which causes you to take another dose of Novolog...
Afrezza mimics natural insulin. It's released quickly and then degrades before the 3-hour mark, therefore no drop in BG, no snack, no BG spike, no additional dose. No real need for intricate titration. You estimate the carb load and the n adjust the Afrezza dose. He doesn't get that. He gives me a little laugh and then walks on.
This is what we're dealing with, people. It's going to take patients requesting Afrezza to turn the tide, here.
Old School insulin management is too deeply rooted in our system.
That will only start with an effective TV ad campaign. It has to come from the people.

Rock their CC was Thursday, so the market for the most part reacted already. By them not mentioning Afrezza is either the sign that we have been put on the back burner or else, stay tuned news is coming. I believe the former is the case unfortunately. But what will be most important, is what will MNKD offer up during the 2nd Q CC. That should be very telling. Clearly as it stands now as far as I'm concern, SNY is failing MNKD.
