"Deflation can be a game over issu".......
That's right. And in late '07/08 the american consumer as well as corporate america was up to it's eyeballs in debt. That debt has now been transferred to the american taxpayer. What should have been "game over" for over indulgent consumers and over levered businesses has now become potentially "game over" for the american middle class and hence america.
But I would propose that with a national education standing that went from first worldwide to 26th worldwide in the course of 40 years maybe america deserves it.

    I can't believe you guys.
The Fed has annihilated... ANNIHILATED! the value of the dollar over the last 60 years in an attempt to manage the economy through monetary policy. Period. And it has been with the implicit approval of all three branches. 5 years ago the quote that came out of the Whitehouse was 'we are going to trash the dollar to get out of this mess".....remember? That means inflation...the increase of the money supply....not the CPI or PPI... and it has been massive over the long term. But theft may be a more accurate word to describe "management through monetary policy". Theft of buying power from anyone with a dime, dollar, or million dollars in the bank.
