The only true alternative to the grid is to adapt a lifestyle that mimics the Mennonites who shun electricity and electrical gadgets, or maybe even heed the lyrics in Roger Miller's song, King of the Road.
" the Gov (ie Obama) is going to use illegal's for medical experiments."
No experiments, only organ transplants.
" Think of todays actions and comments, as a gift.'
make up yer mind.
What else to expect from an admin peopled by activists with very little corporate experience in organizing anything.
An official spokeswoman for Obama has referred to Israeli statements on the Gaza war as 'just so much #$%$'. She used those words frequently in her update to the press. Nice statement from an official representative of the president.
Orwell was quite prescient. The left wing has had hissy fits about 'rights' for more than 40 years, but it was really all about shutting down opposing viewpoints. It's an old Bolshevik tactic..
I've heard of the element, but have never heard or read of thorium being used for power generation. If the tech exists to make it feasible I wonder why it is not being promoted by the power industry.....maybe because NG is available and much cheaper to construct for.
Sounds like a good proposal for negotiators over Iran's nuke program.
"If you actually believe we live in a democracy, you are living your life with your eyes closed.'
yes, so true.
Over the past fifty years, both parties have moved from common ground to partisan tactics . The dems over the years, in my opinion, have radicalized their party by moving too far to the left causing the GOP to move further to the right, leaving a no ,man's land in the middle.
The current president and his predecessors have not helped. Eventually the nation may split.
Nah, they're all blue tie losers just welching on their debt....so used to handouts, just waiting for some new entitlement program or an "o" exec order to bail 'em out.
that cost comparison is very interesting, but there may be a hidden cost for nuclear that is not mentioned, and that is the waste factor. Nuclear plants all over America are piling up waste in on site pools of water because no one wants the waste disposed of in their state, and who can blame them?
Also, it may be next to impossible today to obtain a site and get the required permits to build a nuke. The cost to construct would also be very high.
What we need is a technology breakthrough to develop hydrogen power from heavy water, but research in that field is almost non existent today.
what are surgies? I wouldn't pay 93,000 for two surgies. Sounds fishy to me.
Wake up Roggie.....you say my stupid statements are based on 'political belief and not facts'..
It is a fact that a huge percentage of the "hungry children" in this country are born out of wedlock, the father or fathers have no intention of supporting them, and mothers find it much easier to receive food stamps and welfare than to work for a living.
No, the world is not flat, or at least has not been so for a long time, but you can't wake up to reality, and reality is that the moochers love to have fools like you sobbing at their feet because that means the coins will continue to fall at their feet.
I say let's make it voluntary.....if you want to support them, check a box on your tax return. You can give until it hurts or you run out if tears.
Compassion is fine, but it is not for fools.
Entitlement programs must be revised such that once entitlement is granted for a child, future children are responsibility of the parents, not the taxpayers. See how fast they start practicing birth control, and go to work.
Latest issue of National Geographic has a sob story about "hunger" in America. All of those in the photos look very well fed
National Geographic and The Smithsonian have morphed into liberal rags.
NY currently has almost one third of its state population enrolled in Medicaid.
The district of Columbia has about 35% enrolled.
Maine has about 31% enrolled.
At the low end, NH, N.D. and N.J have about 12% enrolled.
The cost of this program would drop significantly if the law would allow the enrolled to be treated at clinics for non emergencies instead of clogging emergency rooms..
"Bush/Cheney belong in prison. All of their wealth should be confiscated "
Double ditto for LBJ. He wasted far more on a useless war that left millions dead, paralyzed, blinded, hideously burned.
Funny how U never mention him or McGeorge Bundy, or Robert McNamarra, or Dean Rusk........what should have happened to them?
Oh, they were democrats, so it's just an honest mistake. Sooooooo sorry, please!
Saw an interesting news piece on the TV where the state of Washington wants to get people out of emergency room treatment and into clinics right next door. they say it will greatly reduce emergency room treatment expense since the great majority of emergency treatment is not related to emergencies......just overuse by the poor showing up for colds.
It will likely become a court case.
A well intentioned law has become a millstone.
"A reported 47% pay no Federal income tax. There is something very wrong with that"
Agreed. A free ride for 47% combined with the fact that so many of the low wage earners hide off the books income is a serious impediment to funding state and federal budgets. Many may not be as 'poor' as records show them to be.
I'd support a tax increase on high incomes IF the money was used only to reduce debt. I think they would grouse about that but accept it if they could view it as in the nation's best interest.
I do not support a flat tax rate. It's impossible to have someone making 10k pay at the same rate as someone making 10mil.
I do believe everyone should pay something, however small.
