Actually I just bought 2 of them last week and DROPPED Directv subscription ! I found that Most of the TV shows my family recorded were FREE TV shows and local ones that I could get if I got a HDTV antenna. So I got two via Costco A Powered Winegua15rd HDTV and a non powered HDTV antenna . Now I have 25 stations coming in that Half of which are local side channels in HDTV that I didn't even know existed because Directv never rebroadcast the side local HDTV channels for me !!!
This Tivo thing is saving me $ 130.00 a mount right now. Where my bill used to be !45.00 per mo ( no include tax) it is now 15.99 a month for the Tivo TV guide. Think I might even buy some stock in this here "nu version of Tivo" As more people become educated about the Hight price of Cable and satellite... I get most of my news over the Internet anyway.. each one of my local TV stations has a WEBSITE... AND ONE OF THEM STOPPED BROADCASTING ON THE LOCAL fm STATION. So I can get my news weather and sports without hooking up to the Directv LEASE bomb that has been robbing me for the past 15 years..
Sooner or later a lot of people MUST be waking up and Snipping the cord... cause all of sudden DTV wants to merge with ATT ... lol..

    Sentiment: Buy

Government subsidies of critical business sectors have promoted profitability in many enterprises, and assured a general national prosperity and domestic well-being.

Despite these positive benefits, critics have complained of the unfair competitive advantages given to some businesses, have cited damage to the environment as a result of some subsidized activities and have proposed massive cuts in subsidies because of expanding government debt and declining tax revenues.

Even with government subsidies, some businesses have not survived. In recent decades, America has seen the decline of the railroad industry, the bankruptcy and extinction of several once-major airlines and the disappearance of smaller farms acquired or put out of business by big agriculture, all supported by government subsidies. (For more, see What You Need To Know About Bankruptcy.)

Although some businesses claim that they cannot survive economically without government help, the questions that must be answered are: which businesses will continue to get government support, which will not, how much will be spent and will the expense be worth the return?
