Scamazon has been promoting a buy $75 get $25 back via American Express. Guess who is paying for the $25 promo... And the Kindle no interest purchase promo has a hidden scam...access to Scamazon's media is restricted till the Kindle is paid for in full.
There is no way Scamazon can compete with COST on price when the cost of Prime and a "small shipping fee" are factored into each shipment.
I bought a lot of cheap stuffs from TigerDirect, Radio Shack, NewEgg, Staples, Ebay, and Microsoft store. Why? Because they have the lowest prices. Average shipping time is 2-4 days. If I find a cheaper price on Scamazon, then I would go to Best Buy or Target for a price-match.

Wow, I haven't yet read the entire thread (it's long guys) but I wanted to share my experience since it's similar to some others I came across in the first few pages.
I've used s&s since it first became available. I use it for my home address and to ship things to my parents' address. I never have fewer than 10 items per month and have had as many as 60 before in one month.
I do snag the deals but I also have items that I legitimately need/want auto-delivered like Breeze litter pads, vitamins, etc. I noticed that the last two months, I've gotten hardly any deliveries. I just went in to investigate and my account also shows new orders/canceled orders.
The most recent "deal" I got in on was the less than $4 Tide. It has been canceled and re-ordered without promo and is set to ship by mid-month. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely check the rest of my stuff and just wanted to be one more voice of warning to anyone else who might be in this situation.
For what it's worth, I've used Amazon since 2004, pretty regularly. Between business and home and gifts, I shop there several times a week, every week. In the last month, I've had my first (and only ever) horrible customer service experiences with them including them double shipping/charging an item they supposedly cancelled after they didn't honor their delivery date. It was completely their error in two different ways. I even had to pay to return the item because their shipping label printed incorrectly (UPS couldn't scan) and they never issued another one. I was never refunded and went through two different levels of CS that promised to fix it. It was $150 out of my pocket that I'm still trying to resolve. I've maybe had 3 returns in all of those years and maybe 10 complaints, total. I've never had that kind of issue with them, ever, and now, this... it might just be that I'm overdue for a mishap but this makes me wonder if the way they do business is changing.
Check out those popular shopping websites like Slickdeals. During this holiday, Scamazon was the place that's trying to pricematch other retailers like TigerDirect, Microsoft Store, Frys, New Egg, Staples, Best Buy, Wal Mart, Target, and even Radio Shack. People were reporting hit or miss when it comes to price matching at Scamazon.
Scamazon is no longer the leader when it comes to low prices, and the smart shoppers know this. Most people don' t care about two-day shipping.
Scamazon has guided EPS for 4th quarter to a loss of 26 cents or a gain of 26 cents. Yet the crooks in WS are still advocating 69 cents! Course this number will plummet to about 22 cents next month after the big boys unload.
WalMart's brick and mortar stores will also price-match ads from local grocers. Show the cashier the ads and the item purchased will be discounted per the ads. Instead of driving around town to save money at various stores, one can shop at WalMart or WalMart Neighborhood stores to obtain all the available discounts, plus WalMart's everyday low prices.
The catalyst will be something that no-one has factored into the super computer. Then boom, everyone is looking for that tiny exit door. It's always different this time, till history proves you wrong.
Perhaps. But there aren't many old or new shorts to power big gain in Scamazon. A more logical explanation is fast money and momentum traders riding the wave. The goal is to convince the public to embrace the stock market. Cash is trash. Those who got in at the bottom sell to those who engage at the top. Then some event triggers common sense, and we have everyone rushing for the exit.
Easy answer...buy bubble stocks at your own risk. Fundamentals don't matter till they all rush for the exit at the same time, without any warning.
For 2013, EPS so far is four cents. Guidance for the 4th quarter is a loss of 26 cents or a gain of 26 cents. I'm going to be generous and assign a value of 21 cents. So EPS for 2013 is 25 cents, or about 1460 PE for 2013. EPS for 2014 will probably hit 50 cents (forward PE of 730).
I had to liquidate a lot of long positions in 1999 (with large capital gains) to keep up with my short positions. Had to wait two years for that big pay day. I see very similar behaviors in today's bubble stocks. Fundamentals don't matter as long as you're riding the upward momentum. Crooks in WS continue to raise price targets based on hope of great earning next quarter. In the case of Scamazon, forward guidance is down on both revenue and profit. But then they justify these upgrades with logic like Scamazon is always conservative with estimate. Hell yeah...managements are so great that they were able to nail down 4th quarter earning between a loss of 26 cents and a gain of 26 cents.
Guidance for 4th quarter is a lot lower. 72 cents expected. Guidance is a loss of 26 cents to a gain of 26 cents. Today's tiny revenue beat is due to a different way of counting revenue. Used to count only profit made when selling books by 3rd party. Now the whole transaction is counted as part of the revenue. This change in accounting does not alter the actual earning.
Confirmed that one cannot SSH AMZN @ TD at this time. May change tomorrow morning.
Guidance for 4th quarter is a loss of 26 cents or a gain of 26 cents, well below the current estimate of 72 cents gain for the 4th quarter. The revenue estimate is also light.
This quarter's beat in revenue is due to an accounting change, which does not affect the actual reported earning.
Tablets are expensive web browsing toys. An $80 Nokia 520/521 smart phone is good enough for browsing the internet and light Office editing. A Surface 2 is the sweet spot for those looking for portability and productivity.
Crooks in WS are still expecting Scamazon to earn a lowered 72 cents in the 4th quarter. I would bet that Scamazon will guide 25 cents or less for the 4th quarter. I always short with at least 2x cash on hands.
Scamazon has no pricing advantage over BBY and TGT because both will pricematch Scamazon's prices. The more populous states are collecting sale taxes from Scamazon. But Ebay's customers still enjoy tax-fee shopping. Ebay is usually the lowest price leader when it comes to small purchases that are less than $300.
