No typo but I think the A shares will be 143 and not 145. Don't know how much DTV drops down to bottom line. You have a guess?
So true. The theft from shareholders by top management and their pay structure with stock options and incentive options has really destroyed long term investment psychology.
I would respond by saying most companies don't even last 50 years and BRK is still here and thriving. It may not be a rocket like AMZN or FB but it is slow and steady and if you know what you are doing it can make you alot of money. The trick is knowing how it works.
What would you rather have if you had to make the choice today and couldn't sell for 5 years: BRK or US Dollars?
I am with you. Under 130 seems pretty good compared to other options. My best guess if books closed today would put BV at 145.5K / share today. Down a little from last qtr. let's see if WEB can pull a rabbitt out of the hat and break 137. That would be nice. Glty.
Nada. But it does include sny and mRe. Should get some buying into EOQ next week but unless we rally huge investments this qtr are a loss to a wash with the khc gain. Would have been a blowout qtr without the huge market pullback. Nothing ever goes according to plan.
Yep. As soon as Cramer throws in the towel we have the next bull market.
U may b right. Cramer basically called a bear market today so if u use him as a contrarian indicator the market may have a tradable line in the sand at dow 16k. Futures are up already. Yellen keeps yapping to make people sell and generate cap gains for gov't. All that talking makes me thirsty.
I try to pick up some more 10 or 20 year term whenever interest rates go up a bit so I can get a better rate. Won't have to worry about college costs in another 8 years.
Sold some Dec 140s on last rally up over 136 and got a good price. Today add a few about 128.60. Gotta buy into the fear. Unless we get rally this next week BRK is going to show about break even or a little loss with investment losses this quarter. Rough quarter. Next quarter and first quarter is a little easier and after that should be alot easier.
Ouch. But the bottom line is billions are being put to work every quarter and what started out as a little textile mill making suit liners is now a force to be reckoned with. BRK is a modern day Ma Bell.
Nothing more than what is wrong with politicians in general. Google George Carlin on Politicians. Funny but true. The problem is no different than the CEO who buys back stock to exercise their options. They use other people's money for their own personal benefit regardless of the morality or eventual outcome. If I had a choice of choosing a life long politician or an owner of a business to run the country there is no questions who I vote for. The one who has suffered the consequences of bad decisions and running things dishonestly. Want to take a guess?
I am not a WEB cheerleader on his politics either. However, I trust him to handle my money better than I can ... even if you think BRK has been beaten by the SPY in the time frame you have arbitrarily picked. Let someone else sit in front of their computer all day. Others have made the point that BRK does better on the way down than the way up and that is the only thing I will be cheer leading as markets look stretched. Bad money drives out good money and WEB knows it well and has better connections than you or me to figure things out. I just don't understand why people whine about companies they think are done. I sell my stock and move on to something else (and sometimes take a parting shot). Why keep a position you are not happy with and dwell on the past. Seriously. Wish you good luck. You say Buffett is like a washed up athlete. So you sold your BRK and moved on or are you a washed up athlete too?
Portered has spoken. Now vote with your wallet and sell your shares and move on. Nice knowing you. Good luck.
