Even with competition, look for this stock to
start seeing positive numbers soon. With Netscape (and
hence ultimately AOL) as a partner, we should see
business pick up. I am curious about short term targets
though. I see this stock reaching 14 - 15 after next
earnings are released. Any opinions?
You say you have invested for 15 years and that you are age 25. You must've have done pretty well as a little kid? Gee, my parents only let me play with toy trucks.
I fully agree with your comments. PIR is not a
stock for the short term investor, but rather for the
true long -- i.e. several years out. Daytraders like
Funnyman can make money on the inevitable ups and downs
from week to week -- but only if they check the stock
daily, and watch it closely when it starts reaching
their targets with the plan to sell quickly.
Seems whenever we do see a drop in PIR, the
volume is VERY low. The big guys are holding onto this
stuff while the small investors are (prematurely)
bailing. I look for PIR to start going up shortly before
earnings news is released.
I don't know -- PIR opened up a lot of new stores
in new areas -- Hawaii, etc. These stores were met
with tremendous enthusiasm from what I understand and
had exceptional sales. While I agree that same store
will probably be flat to marginally better than
expected, I think the new stores will add tremendously to
total sales. I don't think that $0.05 above estimate is
too far off considering this -- not to mention
increased margins as a result of Asia woes, where PIR buys
extensively but has very little exposure (few stores in
Funnyman is so desperate he has to post the same
information over and over again! Funnyman -- can't you at
least make up some outrageous lie for us? You are quite
good at doing that. At least we would have something
new to read.
Again, if you are thinking about
investing in PIR, check its fundamentals, not this
Look for 15 by late March!
Gee, when Funnyman was debating on a new name a
while back, livlongandprosper was one of the ideas he
suggested. Seems like he is once again changing his name.
Too bad he can't own up to his own ideas with his
real name. I guess he's afraid he will be sued for
libel -- because that's almost all he spouts. If you
have questions about PIR, read the fundamentals and
not this newsgroup. Go long on PIR and prosper.
There have been a lot of postings lately about a
lot of ridiculous issues... The simple truth about
PIR is in its fundamentals.... low P/E ratio, a
strong history of growth and exceeding analyst's
estimates, prospects for a new store chain (Pier 2),
internet selling about to go online (PIR.com!), home sales
at all time highs and still growing, fantastic
margins due to overseas troubles both in Asia and South
America, good locations and management, and excellent
merchandise. When earnings come out, expect to see this stock
go through the roof, breaking out to 15!
Of course Johnson will be selling shares -- he is
retired and in his late 60's, early 70's. At that age, it
would be foolish if he kept all of his money tied up in
stocks rather than spending it and enjoying it. When I
reach that age, I'll do the same.
For those of you who don't know, Funnyman has had
numerous pseudonyms over the past year including
HoorayPir, Gimbelsclosed, etc. He is a notorious short who
rountinely spreads lies on this board and has conversations
with himself using different names. He has told of how
PIR uses slave labor, how PIR will go bankrupt in
March, how he is working for PIR to secretly undermine
this board, has posted as Marvin Girouard, etc. Don't
believe a word he says. I've given up arguing with his
posts or ignoring them even. His goal is simply to lie
and make money any way he can, however unethical it
might be. Make your own decision on PIR by studying its
fundamentals, not this group.
Not that I believe Sears is going to buy Pier One
out, they have to many other problems right
The simple truth can be ascertained from PIR's
fundamentals. Look at them for yourself. PIR's debt ratio is
VERY low, lower than most companies in its industry
and certainly lower than a lot of the high risers
(soon to be crashers) like Restoration Hardware (RSTO).
PIR has excellent growth potential between its web
site ventures, new store concepts, and growth into new
domestic markets. It has a thirty year history, seven
years of growth behind it, and a great record at
beating analyst estimates. It even has a dividend to
boot. On top of this, it is tremendously undervalued.
Compare P/E ratios of PIR to other stocks... this thing
is going to shoot through the roof come March! We'll
see 15 sooner than you (Funnyman) think
the more capital letters he uses. He must be at
his most desperate right now, trying to impart A
SENSE OF URGENCY!!! Yeah right. The simple truth is I
am profitting from going long on PIR.
Funnyman: Get over it and cover your short while you still
How many multiple posts does it take to erase all
of the positive messages from everyone off the first
page of this board? Seems you are trying mighty hard
to badmouth this stock; and if others try and post
positive things, you simply post repeatedly so that they
disappear into the archives. Good game -- but I think
people are smart enough to skip your messages by now,
including all of your psuedonyms.
I am bullish on PIR as a stock for the long-term
investor. Have already come close to doubling since I
bought in at 6 3/4... and expect to see 15 by March.
Look at the fundamentals instead of reading this
newsgroup if you don't believe it.
Give it up. This stock is moving up again as the
market heats up. You had better stop spreading lies,
cover that short position, and find another stock to
beat up. The people on this boar have sense enough to
read FUNDAMENTALS and interpret them rather than
listen to your insipid prose.
Depressed PIR short named Funnyman "posted
messages on this board in mass when it was pointed out
that their depression had resulted in" his not having
any effect on the stock at all and it rising in spite
of his inane comments. To everyone's dismay,
Funnyman continued his rude, insipid comments because he
has no life of his own and is bored.
-- 15 by the end of March!
