Big Dummies. I am surprised Ryan is still around. Anyway, I got negative yardage in TICC. Need to consult rule book !! Tea leaves.
Palo Alto is still a muni electric company, if I recall. IF they can get a industrial work order instead of a contract from a Government entity that would be welcomed news.
Good article In Sunday NYT about Germany and their investment in renewables that have traditional utes scared. I foresee some of it happening here, specially in the Western States.
No worries, WEC has a track record of small increases, TEG does not. If buyout occurs then it is welcomed news if one plans to retain the shares of WEC. GL
Fracmonk- I did reply, maybe a yahoo glitch. There is always the timing of the purchase of BDCs, the biggest IMO is if they do a SPO. IE, AI (REIT) just announced one this week just after the market price broke out above $28. NAV and BV numbers or discounts (premiums) to price and yield. I guess it is what your objective is, income or appreciation. TICC was in the 12s at one time and in the 5s during the crash.
Teedubbs00 - Cream of the crop, WFC ranking system is a good start, then lots of DD. TSLX was a new IPO, it soared above 20 now settled down in the 17s. What happened, another spo. Currently, I have a basket of 6. I decided to stick with ACAS, GBDC, HTGC, PSEC, TICC & WHF which has a combined yield of 8.75% (original cost) current yield 6.21% and gain of 40%. This is in part reflects ACAS no dividend, (yet) and low buy in, $4.55. I have small losses currently with HTGC, PSEC & WHF. Small gains with TICC and GBDC. I watch, TCPC, CPTA, TSLX for possible switches. GL Luck to all
I got dinged, the first time on the June 2014 dividend payment, I re-invest this in an IRA (trad.). Been a holder since 12/2010. ETN did an inversion in Ireland. They paid out today. Brokerage want to withhold 20%. Whats join on ? I thought there were tax treaties, etc in place.
I have 4 transactions in my account for the recent dividend payment with a 20% WH Tax. IS this broker error? Or has something changed. Been a holder since 2011. First time I've seen it. TIA
Good article in NYT concerning car loans about a month ago. Same as the housing crisis. People getting ripped off, inflated incomes, value of car inflated, etc.
I agree, patience is important, crucial and always remember why you made the purchase (or sale) in the first place. I can handle numbers, but as you point it, over study is leads to time, and sometimes too much is spent. I am holding HTGC too @$15.67. Rode it down below $13. Did not average out. Now I'm at break-even. However, I could've sold before recent earnings for a small gain, but I did not. Same with PSEC except I did average down. Why did I purchase more PESC and not HTGC? I guess the inputs that I read on-line signaled to buy PSEC. And not to worry about HTGC. Another is AI. Didn't average down either. It all comes to what your strategy is, and what the value of the trade is to you. I guess. Sorry for the ramble! Thanks for the discussion. Glad to share thoughts on TICC and the market with you,
Because it is consistently ranked 3 or 4 by the so-called smart money and TICC's portfolio isn't the greatest the last time I went thru their 10k of holdings. I am not a huge trader. I have 1100 shares and I am always tempted to buy more for that dividend. I bought in under $9 in 8/2011. Plus a little more 9.75 earlier this year. Insiders are neutral for as long as I had it. Two dividend increases in 2012 plus the stock was up almost 17% that year. I am amazed they are maintaing. NAV is everywhere lately. And the annual March SPO hopefully is being put to work. GL
Its now in an upward pattern from $9.50. It was in a downward pattern after the SPO ($10) and then it went to $9.90 and then down again, now up. I do not agree that TICC is considered one of the better BDCs. Maybe in a sub-class of high yielders above 10%, not overall. For now, I'll take the 12%.
Follow-up, Erin's popcorn gone. Snack aisle reworked. Cape cod chips replaced. Again anyone aware of popcorn problem? This area seems to be exploding, no pun.
There is a Wells Fargo BDC rating report. In the last report, TICC went from 4th quartile to 3rd. See if you can find it. Look on the SFL board. Concerning the Jets, the team of Snell, Boozer, and the other occupants of Shea of old, were the counter to the Yanks and Giants teams. Even they had a bad patch of years. CBS ownership and Tarkenton. Now we are really going back!
Thats what I'm debating, getting more in the 9.40-9.50 range. Dividend seems solid, but there something I can't put my finger on yet until I look over numbers. Another BDC, I have is WHF, they are just getting no respect even with a increasing NAV and expansion of business. GL
