Some shrewd investors have figured out that SGI get's most of it's revenue from the government. It's the only Tech stock that's up today.

Emulex is a respected brand by all of the major storage players.
As a 20 year Storage industry veteran, I believe that their 16Gb/s FC HBA's and 10Gb/s Converged adapters are going to remain a cash cow and will be an inflection point that they can leverage to grab market share.

  • Oracle/Sun said today that they plan to de-focus on x86 servers and focus more on Sparc and other high end chips for enterprises.

This means Dell,HP & IBM stand to see their marketshare of x86 servers grow.

Tom Georgens is a BAD Move

One of the Storage industry's top analyst, Steve Duplessi of ESG disagrees with you:
End of an Era - Tom Georgens Takes the Reigns at NTAP

Dan Warmenhoven has bumped himself upstairs and Tom Georgens is now CEO and President at NTAP. Here's the poop:
    1. Tom is one of the smartest people you could ever hope to meet. He's a tad weird, like most super geniuses I've known, but his aptitude is unquestioned. His NY accent makes him an oddity in the valley, or Boston, but trust me, NTAP is in perfectly good hands.

    2. Dan isn't going anywhere. Tom was handpicked for this job years ago, groomed over those same years, and has been ready to go for a while. Dan just decided now was the time. He has always been candid about not staying too long and getting fresh blood with fresh ideas into NTAP. Like sales god Tom Mendoza - who quasi-retired but still goes to work pretty much every single day all over the globe -Dan won't be leaving. Guys like that are too invested. Good for him to know when it's time. No secession issues here - it will be seamless.

    3. There are no variables or unknowns - this is not unexpected. Everyone on the team has been working for Tom as COO forever anyhow.

    Congrats to all concerned.

I think that would be a good fit too. Plus Quantum has the StorNext Filesystem as a result of their ADIC purchase.

    With CEO abruptly departing,

The CEO is NOT abruptly Departing!

Tom has been running the company as COO for a couple years, was clearly the heir apparent as most of the company is reporting to him.

See Dave Hitz's blog for the details.

And Dan Warmenhoven is still involved.

Your post is not accurate or true, kind of like the New York times, you post what you want to believe, not the facts.
