Volume is almost 1200% above normal, at 6 million+ I'm so happy for you all!
"Aruba Networks (NASDAQ:ARUN) spiked 10% in premarket action. The Wi-Fi-based network-access and security software developer's fiscal Q4 earnings topped consensus views by a penny. Revenue jumped 33%, well beyond expectations. Management also reported a 530 basis point gain in gross margins for the year, and guided margins 21% to 22% higher in fiscal '15.
Aruba ended Tuesday back above 10-week support, working on a fourth weekly advance as it climbs the right side of a six-month consolidation."
Sales in general are not in the "lime-light"...
Y-O-Y sales are UP a meager 1% over this time last year.
Three year sales growth is a paltry 16%...should be at least 25%.
ROE is 16% and should be well over 20%.
There is a shining light tho; pre-tax margins are at a stout 24.2%. Unfortunately, all this money [apparently] goes towards Ricci's salary...
From your mouth to God's ear..
As long as the BOD remains as entrenched and intact as their CEO is, Ricci isn't going anywhere---Carl and Company notwithstanding.
"are you too much in the red to want to sell?"
Well, I bought NUAN at $26.71, so current prices are not going to make me money(!) when I sell.
"I can't imagine you wasting so much time on this stock"
You are correct; I believed the Ricci #$%$ story and this is what I received for my allegiance to NUAN, but you know what, I've had a lot of success in the general markets since 1987.
With stocks like APCC, ARST, RAX and of course ISLN.
I got out the Friday before the Monday, October 19th crash. I did, honestly and did not return until early 1990. Missed a bit of the pop, but there was a lot more to be had when the "dot comm" bubble was still just a burp.
It still angers me that I let my emotions get the better of me with NUAN...I'll check them at the door next time and follow my sell rules.
Yes, I've got several very good prospects on my "watch list", but they are all in a basing pattern. When one makes a furtive move out of the base on good volume, I'll be there.
Thanks for asking. Have a great weekend!
We, regrettably, do not share your optimism. Below is from the conference call:
"We will sustain these expense initiatives in Q4 and into FY15 with the objective of delivering improved margins while also ensuring future growth in our key markets."
"...into 2015". That usually means into the first quarter...I believe that's equates to another s-e-v-e-n months.
After all, Ricci's word has always been gospel, hasn't it?!
Yes, but so is AAPL, MSFT and the others I need not mention. So what?
No effort is being expended in the direction of NUAN, regardless of anyone's suggestion[s] to the contrary.
As long as Ricci remains CEO, the focus of the company's biggest problem will be him...
"These short-minded fantasies of a weak, angry, and defeated Carl Ichan are a load."
You must be referring to my post[s], since few members of this board have been "objective" regarding CI but me...perhaps one other OP.
I have never insinuated nor alluded to CI's mental status in anyway resembling your above quote.
In NONE of my posts have I said CI was, "weak, angry and defeated". Logical Socratic debates are based on FACTS, not what you think I might have meant or said.
Reread my posts then we'll talk again...
"regardless of Opal's negativity:)"
Pig, I prefer to view it as "objectivity".
More often than not, many people on this board tend to view this NUAN debacle through "rose colored scenarios"...never seeming to notice the thorns staring them dead in face...
Notice too how many newbees a drop in pps draws to the board...;-)
" Nothing I know about CI..."
You're absolutely correct; none of us know anything about CI.
It's human behavoir that dictates our motives; like us on this board, we only show what we want others to see or to perceive about ourselves...
You've got one helluva wait before you'll see NUAN at $10
You should earmark that money to invest in a company with solid quarterly and annual earnings, solid sales, 30% margins and ROE and a company which has a CEO that knows his #$%$ from a hot rock.
NUAN currently fails in all categories
"Unless of course someone blinks and makes a run at it. Samsung, IBM, MSFT, APPL, et al."
On the count of three, let's all hold our breaths, shall we...?
Since volume has dried up, I'd take a wild guess to say that even the HFT's and shorts have become dispassionate. There is very little value remaining to be extracted from NUAN; it happens each and every quarter after earnings are released. Look at a chart to see for yourself.
If CI ever sells a-n-y significant amount of NUAN...Katie, bar the door...
"The Rights Plan allows the Board of Directors additional time to evaluate all available alternatives and preserves the Company’s ability to implement management’s strategic plan in order to maximize the long-term value of the Company for all stockholders."
It wouldn't take me a whole year to formulate a "strategic plan in order to maximize the long-term value of the Company for all stockholders."
Boot the BOD's and Ricci to the curb. There are several CEO's that would gladly take on the challenge of putting NUAN on the straight and narrow course to profitability...
"Strange as it may seem, I think he's satisfied with the Company and willing to wait for more follow through."
I respect your thoughts and opinions--- I hope you know that. However...
Where in the devil is this "follow through" going to come from???
The ultimate generator of INcreased pps [and institutional inflow of money] is earnings AND guidance. Remember that institutions are responsible for about 70% of a stocks move [up or down], while the retail investor is usually responsible for what's left.
What's going to make them "move" NUAN?
Institutional [small/mid-cap growth stock] investors have not, for the past SEVEN quarters, bitten on Ricci's less-than-aggressive stance on such abysmal performance of the company which he "supervises". If NUAN were an $8 or $9 billion market cap company [with a $30+ pps], how long do you think the BOD could stand the heat they would be getting from institutions? Surely, we have witnessed how institutional investors have voiced their opinions, resoundingly in the negative, as earnings/guidance in the past year and a half have missed the mark miserably.
Granted, perhaps "value oriented" funds will dabble in a stock like NUAN, but they have their parameters. Whether growth or value institutional investor, they have a point already in mind on when they will add to [or sell] their position EVEN BEFORE they ever move a dollar to buy.
I'd be willing to wager the little I have remaining in my NUAN portfolio that IF [a big "if" to be sure"], but for argument sake...IF Ricc were to announce his resignation, or be forced out by a BOD that had a "sack", NUAN would vault 7-10% on that news alone.
The only time that institutional investors will buy a NUAN-type company is IF there is "news" in the wind about a potential successor "to the throne"...not before. I haven't yet looked, but I doubt that very many institutions have added to their meager NUAN holdings...even at these depressed prices.
Back to you my friend.
