CEMP showed some very strong technicals this week that should lead the stock back higher. I believe it's been kept down by market volatility, sector rotation and lack of news.

    1) CEMP held the trend line established by the low price marks over the past few months
    2) CEMP held over it's 200 day moving average (daily chart) despite this week's selloff
    3) A rare bullish engulfing candle formed today
    4) CEMP closed near it's high of the day.

I fully expect the stock to move technically higher as traders take note of these events. The press on TTPH didn't hurt either. News from the fundamental side will cause it rocket higher.

Baby...meet bathwater. Algos are selling everything with a profit. CEMP is just caught up in the market correction. Nothing has changed since yesterday. Added more today. Looking for an overall market correction of 10%...

1). Day traders who bought lower
2). Day traders who bought higher and are back to even
3). Day traders who are stupid enough to put in market instead of limit orders when they got back to even, causing them to get lower fills.
4). Sellers in any biotech or other ETFs that might own CEMP.

None of the above are long term investors or have even bothered to understand the company's potential.

Lay person's opinion here but when my kid got the flu this year, there was also a secondary ear infection. She was prescribed oral Amoxicillin and it cleared the infection. That said, we've never been one to casually give our kids antibiotics so in those without a lot of use I think it can be effective. I think the standard of care for upper respiratory infections in Azithromycin which can be less effective. Still, if you check the literature, there is demonstrated bacterial resistance to Amoxi in kids. Depends on the infection and the kid.

Last time we saw this degree of sell off was in March, The stock ran back up and churned until we made new highs. The difference this time is the upcoming positive catalysts in Q4. Note that the lows we hit today coincided with the start of the big run up in July and subsequent break out, so aside from hitting the 100-day MA, this was a natural level from which to bounce and the sharp market reversal didn't hurt. The buyers were just waiting for the technical signals to line up.

You nailed it kiddo. Once again, the CEOs tone was very confident and shareholder aware. She also made it clear that oral was the more common use and already proven in Phase III and she emphasized the many other future indications for soli. Seems to me that one way or another an NDA will be filed by the end of the year, Q1 at the latest.

Pure and simple. Fantastic companies like GILD and CEMP going on sale. Nothing has changed with these companies in the past week and this is the reason I told stock_lurker he might get more CEMP in the 30s. The overall market is in correction as we're now looking at a September rate hike. Good opportunity to add if you don't have your full position.

Hey stock_lurker: I know you want to buy more in 30s so I guess we see what what we want to see...LOL. But I think CEMP is simply being traded right now and will form a base here before breaking out to the upside on positive news (again). Anything over $47 is a new breakout. But, you could be right. If we get a biotech or overall market correction, your dream may come true...

There's between $2-$6 of time value in those options which will erode between now and Jan expiration. The challenge with the calls is that if results are delayed and the stock tanks, your call could incur a big loss with not enough time to recover. If you buy the stock (granted less leverage) and things are delayed you still own the stock and can wait it out. If CEMP reports (unlikely) bad data, then you can limit your losses using options, but it depends on how many you buy. My preferred trade (not making any recommendation here) is to be long the stock and then buy out of the money puts as "catastrophic" insurance since my position is large and my cost basis is much lower. But, if you're going to buy options, then you're on the right track in buying deep in the money calls since they'll move closer (but not quite exactly) dollar for dollar with the stock. Hope this helps.

Adeel and Kitty, I am most grateful for your feedback, particularly in your positions as an MD and pharma PhD. I have much to learn. Let me know if you have any "stock behavior" questions. : ) For what it is worth, CEMP closed at a demand level for the stock today after bouncing from a lower price. No doubt a bunch of stops were taken out and the algo traders simply saw the headline of "CEMP misses on revs" without diving into why expenses have risen. We'll see if big buyers step in tomorrow after this move has been absorbed. Next level of support is between 38 and 39 and the 50 day moving average is at 37.25. Thx.

Pharmajedi, you will be put back on ignore for one simple reason - your attitude and approach on this board. If you have something intelligent to say it is more than welcome as part of an ongoing discussion among interested investors. Anyone who thinks that this contribution includes diminishing others is not only perceived as a jac*as* but also immediately loses all credibility. You are thought to be short the stock and not as the expert you perceive yourself to be. If solithromycin was a complete waste of everyone's time, they would not have gotten past Phase 1 and not been able to go public no less complete an incredibly successful and recent secondary offering. The FDA would not be talking to them in the first place and no external organization such as BARDA would bother with them. The company and BOD are made up of very successful pharmaceutical executives with a strong track record of success in developing products and selling companies. As an investor I am simply trying to understand the full potential and upside here. I like the risk/reward opportunity for this company. So for now, please go away.

Oh, one more thing, other antibiotics are heavily prescribed at the current time because soli is not yet available and the other option is a dead patient.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
