The price didn't really respond to earnings before, so is yesterday's move a delayed reaction to good news? The company is buying back its stock at a discount to market in private transactions from a major holder who no doubt needs to diversify, only helping the rest of us. Anybody got any thoughts?
Scottrade operates a closed-universe when it comes to shorting stocks. It only will allow a short if there is a margin customer with the long position. In that way, Scottrade can be assured it is never naked-shorting a stock (since its street position will never be short). Sometimes Scottrade has stocks available for shorting that no one else has, because it's also not lending out customer stock to the street.
