Then Intel would lose cross-license of X64 which with modern 64bit computing being pretty much all that is out there Intel's whole portfolio of processors would be lost.. Intel will absolutely cross-license with anyone if it means keeping their terms for 64bit.
I believe today was a short margin call day. This is a good old short squeeze, it;s the upside going long on a heavily shorted stock. I actually picked up some extra shares yesterday because I thought the margin call would impact price. AMD without the shorters would be in the $5-6 by now.
your username doesn't quite work today does it? the trick to make money on AMD is long term go long!! :)
The patents are worth a boatload! that's what I've been telling everyone. even if (which they wont) AMD was to go belly up we would profit immensely from liquidation. With that said I have absolutely zero doubt that AMD wouldn't get bought up by samsung or qualcom
"Their own mantle"...
Uh #$%$ have you been smoking son? what makes you think a new version of microsoft directX which has been releasing versions for many many years now will be anywhere close to Mantle? Mantle took years of development with great insight into how processors work. There is no way microsoft can replicate that for intel and Nvdia!! Not even close.. Which the market seems to agree with..
2010-2013 were old consoles that were released back in early 2006.. I don't see how those figures can compare to a brand new console lineup. Your also not considering Japan or China which will be huge markets for these consoles.
This report is severally sided towards bashing AMD without considering any of the relevant facts
yea and that only happened because of political pressure. China is still the growth sector most companies need to focus on. ESPECIALLY AMD! Intel has a foothold in the states but with nearly a 40% desktop holding for AMD in China this move makes tons of sense! Probably why the stock price is holding so well.
uh did you even read that? NO WHERE does it state Mantle is being killed off or hindered just that there will be a new version of DirectX which mean absolutely ZERO to Mantle. Mantle is meant to help AMD's low cost APU's with amazing performance increases.
idk what your complaining about the austin sell and lease back opened up a ton of capital which allowed AMD to invest in the consoles and restructuring. That was actually a good idea. China has a lot of money and makes a lot of sense. Less we forget we owe our whole economy and debt to China!.. I have no problem with AMD moving their desktop division to China.
word China and India are AMD's biggest growing sectors. This makes a lot of sense and will also cut their costs. As an investor this works for me!
man i can't stand when you guys take what is positive news and try to make it negative. This is a smart move. AMD has reported nearly 40% of the market share in China along with $40% of the graphics market there. Obviously they are focusing on their largest and fastest growing segment while cutting costs even further. This is good news for investors!
whats with the question mark? are you asking or are you stating? Because it looks like your trying to start a rumor. You have anything to reference with that statement or are you just scared.
Have you seen bloomburg institution in AMD before? no. so yes this is a big deal.
Apple will be using TSMC for their A8 processors.. get your facts straight son.
huh? AMD makes GPUs (graphics cards) for apple not their priority iphone/ipad processors. If anything this is a positive for AMD as it shows how solid ONE OF AMDs Fab partners really is.
