Saudi economic diversification. I like that. Kind of like military intelligence. No self respecting Saudi would be caught dead doing any actual work or fighting. So in your theory, what, they hire a work force to do something besides oil field and servitude work ??

    VNR Strong Buy

I agree with gw's and thinnau's comments here. The ride is gonna be bumpy. VNR is going to be rocked Tuesday, after the CC, and the release of the new chart showing coverage ratios, after the last chart wasn't worth the internet space it was printed on. Definitely hold off on that bubbly !! I've thinned my VNR holdings considerably during this energy, well, crash works. I'm still long a few shares, and my long term view of VNR is quite solid.

  • Yes, hind sight is 20/20. I kept adding to my BBEP holdings, all the way up to $23, I believe. On the rapid path, way back down, I sold all units, at $7.95 . Needless to say, I'm glad I did. It also goes to say, the lubeless shafting I took, still makes it painful to sit. I think the market's 20% yield (again) on this, speaks volumes. At today's close of $ 5.39, and the after hours move, further down, to $5.28, I surmise .........
    - A dramatic reduction of the distribution is already priced in.
    - BBEP should be paying a 12.5% dividend, so the markets are pricing in about .60 going forward .
    - A further reduction from that will reduce the unit price to match that 12.5% yield.
    - Cease the distribution, and all bets are off on the unit price. Could even be higher, I wouldn't hazard even
    a Yahoo Board guess.
    - History is pretty full of companies that bought big at market peaks. It doesn't commonly bode well for them.
    - It's pretty fair to say that QRE was bought by BBEP at the recent peak price of oil, and the nose dive started
long before the deal was finalized.
    - When BBEP published their distribution coverage chart, and they saw the bottom, or at least published a
coverage level at a bottom of $70 / bbl oil, yeesh, it was way the heck optimistic.
    - Not that I thought any different than them along this ride. At that point $70 was still Cramer's worst case
scenario. And that schmuck has some pretty bad worst cases.
    - Anyway, if BBEP survives this debacle, this is the buying opportunity of a generation. But it's not entirely
impossible that they don't survive in this current configuration, and all longs would go down with them.
    - With that all said, I'm almost ready to start picking up some units again. As I too, am a proven glutton for
    punishment.

Good luck to all longs !! Vagrancy to shorts !!

Would've needed an existing buy order to catch $20. It crashed through that faster than a falling brick. Ironically, I see SDRL as a buy now. At $11.06, how much more can it fall ? I expect to take some nibbles back in, in the near future, for a long term hold. Hopefully SDRL has a long term.

When I saw ETP roll by this morning, on CNBC, down pretty big, I assumed the quarter stunk, and they've stopped increasing the distribution, or worse. Buying a big company, in the trough of an energy downturn, is, well, brilliance comes to mind. VIVA ETP !!

  • I, apparently wrong again, thought APL would cease to exist the next trading day, after Friday's (1-20) announcement that the merger had been approved.
Possibly bucking the negative strings here recently, I think the merger will be ok. Nat Gas is a long term huge growth area. Exporting liquids is around the corner. The recent low price (sub $3) of nat gas, will be fond history in a couple of years. I believe that the low price of nat gas has had a bigger impact on APL's unit price, than the merger. Be patient, accumulate low. Good luck to all longs. Painful agony to shorts .

No personal slight meant Ian, I assure you. Thank you for your service. With 13 years in the Air Force, you have to admit, some pretty silly stuff is done. Like a toilet seat cover, for the cost of renovating my bathroom.

Maybe my lack of desire to hire a contractor, for something I would do better myself, can get us to better agree on a suitable oxymoron for my original post, which, I swear, was intended to skewer, only the Saudis. "Great Contractor", better !! ??

Add me as your co-conspiracy theorist. Add Iran as the other bird killed with that one stone too. I think there's more than just politics in this though. A million bbl/day production over usage currently. Looks to approach 2 million bbl in 2015, before decreasing. When/if the world economy picks up, and that glut disappears, look for increases as rapid as the decreases were. My main conspiracy theory caveat ............ near term, rapid rise, bordering price shock, as it's too easy for Russia, or Iran, to take out a major Saudi oil facility, and make it look like ISIS did it. You want to be long US shale production, and SDRL, should this come to pass.

I don't remember what exactly they were trying to cure, when it was discovered their little blue pill caused competitively solid wood in men. But, Viagra was born !! So now J & J has a drug, Risperdal, with the side affect of growing knockers on men. Maybe we can market it to trannies in San Fran !!! Don't give up on Risperdal just yet. Maybe the military can use it to put in the lakes around Fallujah. I mean, how can you take serious, a butt ugly, hideously bearded ISIS terrorist with bigger jugs than Raquel Welch ? !!
