  • Oscar Mayer announced they are closing their headquarters and production facility in Madison. Several years ago 4,000 were employed there, now it's down to a 1,000. The jobs will be gone by 2017. Already the water utility has announced water rates will be going up to make up the lost revenue from Oscar Mayer. Oscar Mayer had it's own power plant, but look for a drop in power/gas consumption as workers leave Madison for jobs elsewhere.
Scott Walker who campaigned in Iowa that he was fighting for Wisconsin did nothing while the mayor of Madison contacted Oscar Mayer in March trying to keep the jobs.

  • Oscar Mayer announced last week they are moving their headquarters out of Madison and closing the production facility. A couple of years ago, before Walker, they employed 4,000 people. Now it down to 1,000 they will be unemployed. No impact on WE Energy outside of For Sale signs going up on dark cabins owned by Oscar Mayer employees in WE Energy territory. A hundred years of meat production ends.
Mayor Paul Soglin released e-mail from March showing his efforts to keep the Madison facility going. Scott Walker did nothing now is saying he will try to get them to reverse the decision. Too late Walker, it's already done, go down a put a fork into the unemployed.
All together now, "Scott Walker, where are those 250,000 jobs you promised?"
Hey, let's return to WE Energy territory and dump some manufacturing jobs tomorrow?

  • Gee, a few weeks ago SC Johnson canned a IT department in Racine now their sending sales and marketing to Chicago. The company is stressing no jobs will be lost, just 175 people will be leaving Racine for Chicago if they want to keep eating. Don't you just love the smell of For Sale signs in the morning?

  • A fine award attesting to the economic skills of Scott Walker and business leaders like Klappa. There were 7,940 people filing for the first time for Unemployment Comp for the week ending Nov 7. An increase of 224 from the previous week, which the week before that was an increase of something like 480.
WEC shareholders, you are going to have to stand up to Klappa. His remarks that the Wisconsin economy is blooming in 3rd quarter conference call was bald face lying. He'll lie to you as the day is long unless you start nailing him through questions at the annual and flooding the lead director with missives. Archaic coal burning plants, over capacity, plant closures a daily occurrence almost, Wisconsin GDP with paltry 1.0% growth. Yep, better start working to save your investment or sell.

  • Oh, dear, WE Energy losing more customers! The American Red Cross is downsizing, closing buildings in Appleton, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc and Sheboygan.

There’s no need for the large buildings anymore. “For Sale” signs went up earlier this week. There are no employees currently stationed in the Fond du Lac or Sheboygan buildings, and only one worker assigned in Appleton because of previous job cuts.

  • Finance and accounting got the ax over the weekend. A total of 277 jobs are now gone with the accompanying loss of electricity and gas demand for WE Energy, not to mention the loss of residential consumers for WE Energy.
All together now, you really must speak up, "Scott Walker, where are the 250,000 jobs you promised?"
What's this, the anticipated high paying jobs leaving Waukesha for China? Tune in tomorrow for a special edition of Wisconsin Job Loss Today.

Well, now, there goes another WE Energy customer. Let's not mention the 400 now unemployed residential customers. Maybe they will put lights on their For Sale signs on their houses. lol

Hey, let's fire some high tech, manufacturers tomorrow!

  • No doubt some were commuting in from Jefferson where Tyson joins Hypro in leaving the community bereft of jobs. Hey, Walker, these are welders, what's up with your claims there aren't enough welders? These are now unemployed. Look for some more sale signs going up on cabins in WE Energy territory as the jobless can't afford cabins.

Just another day in Wisconsin, more pink slips. Meriter-Unity is closing a 16 bed facility giving the heave-ho to 44. And you thought being a nurse you where safe from losing your job. Wake up, this is Walkerland!

  • No word from HOG how many Milwaukee jobs are going. The spokesman does say Macrito would not confirm how many Milwaukee-based employees will be cut by the end of the month, but he said the impact will be felt locally. That means a number of highly experienced workers, including some who took the early retirement packages, will enter the Milwaukee job market looking for a new career.
    Isn't that just heartwarming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MG&E went with coal burning at Oak Creek while the rest of the industry went green with gas. Alliant closing the coal burner at Cassville and Sheboygan and building gas plant at Janesville. Duke buying Piedmont Gas and weekly announcements in solar and wind projects.
Add in high stock price won't support the low dividend with rising interest rates, look for a haircut.

  • 20 will be jobless in Stoughton in February. Here's tip for them, Minnesota. Higher income, lower unemployment rate and they're in agony trying to figure out how to deal with a $1.9 billion surplus.

  • The jobs will be gone by Jan 1. Oh, my!

Tune in tomorrow, the latest unemployment numbers for the state are as you expected, unemployment up across the board!

  • Boy, that is a great sign of economic growth. Just warms your hearts thinking of how Klapp is taking on debt to pay WE Energy dividends as revenue goes south. Too bad WE Energy investors can't invest in Hawaii Electric. They would feel right at home, dividends paid by the board increases in debt and letting their power plants run on dirty oil. NEE stepped in and is going to clean it up.
