Perhaps you should reread my posting. BMI and ASCAP deal with songwriters and publishers which are completely different from the royalties paid to the Labels. Two very different royalties.

BTW, why are you Shorts always so angry and bitter?

    ob3nj,

Did you check out Pandora’s presentation at the Needham Interconnect Conference? There’s some interesting discussion about IR competition.

“By the way, companies that are in the "rating measurement business" say whatever their clients want them to say.”

Toooooooooo funny! Here, let me help you:
Triton Digital is a mid-stage technology company focused on the digital audio industry. More leading publishers – including CBS, Pandora, Entercom, Microsoft and Slacker – use the Triton platform to enrich their content and deliver it to a global audience than that of any other company. Triton’s Webcast Metrics product is the MRC-accredited industry standard in digital audio measurement.

Good luck with your Short position, LOL

"BMI and its competitor Ascap, which license performing rights on behalf of songwriters and music publishers, operate under consent decrees with the Justice Department that were established in 1941 and have not been updated in more than a decade.
Pandora pays record labels about 12 times the royalties that it pays for songwriting rights. And Internet and satellite radio outlets do not pay any recording royalties for songs made before 1972."

There are two, very different types of royalties, you obviously don’t know the difference or the significance of this partnership... better do your homework, LOL

    ob3nj,
You posted, “valuation based upon what is presented” and you would be correct. But, remember Gretzky? It’s not about where we are today, but where we are going tomorrow. If you wait until tomorrow to invest, you will be too late.
Regarding “cash is slightly down from 6 months ago”, Pandora has ZERO debt and plenty of cash. I would hope that Pandora would continue to invest all of that $437 million wisely. To make money you need to spend money.
    All the best,
    Eight Bucks

We’ll make between $0.16 and $0.19 in 2014, have ZERO debt and finished the last Q with $437 million in cash. We have plenty of $$$ to buy stuff and BTW, we already have some Comedy stations.

    Goldcrash,
Very valid points, except “Malone is interested”. SIRI has 3.45 BILLION dollars of debt and over 6 BILLION outstanding shares. They are desperate to keep up, but I don’t think they are able to buy a bag of day old doughnuts.

You were warned by me and numerous others around here that this stock is a dog and NOT good for a long-term investment. But you dismissed everyone with an opposing viewpoint as a short and thought you were smarter than the street. Do you even look at metrics? Charts? Trends? Financials? They all tell the story. You're just skimming through for the pictures and not reading the words printed on the page.

Every summer our metrics dip down and every September they begin to rise again and peak during the winter holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. This “seasonality” makes it essential to compare metrics YOY rather than month to month. Yet some make the month to month comparison and see a “possible” Red Flag. The facts are...
“Pandora reported 76.4 million active listeners at the end of the second quarter, up 7.5% year-over-year. The company said listener hours grew 29% to 5.04 billion.”
The takeaway is that even in this highly saturated and completive arena, we are continuing to add listeners, but more importantly the listeners we have are using the product more.
Total RPMs continued to increase to $43.41, a 7% YOY increase. Pandora earned 4c for Q2, compared with analysts' consensus estimate of 3c and raise full year 2014 guidance to be between $0.16 and $0.19
Finally, we have ZERO debt and finished the Q with $437 million in cash.
So, what can we expect for the future? Because of seasonality, Q3 results in October will show a growth in active listeners and I believe those listeners will continue to use the product more. Thanks to FB and others, mobile advertising will continue to grow in attractiveness with advertisers and Pandora’s RPMs, especially mobile RPMs will continue to increase. Pandora’s investment in the Local Ad Market will also add to the RPM increase. And then there is the CRB Wild Card, perhaps not so wild.
I stand by my convictions... The best is yet to come!

    Silly Siriusaurous!
Hey congrats on making 2c last Q. How’s are those bogus stock buyback programs coming along, I can’t wait to see the Q update of current outstanding shares. But, don’t worry you can always just add to that 3.45 BILLION dollar debt, when you get that high no one really cares anymore. LOL

“Local ad mix represents a revenue growth opportunity. According to Pandora, about two-thirds of the $15 billion domestic annual radio ad market comes from local ads. In Q1:14, local represented 20 percent of Pandora’s ads, up from 10 percent a year ago. Pandora does not expect to increase the number of audio ads delivered per hour (six) in 2014. Instead, top-line growth will come from the higher rates that local ads command (rates are 50-200 percent higher for local than for national), strong local sales teams across the country, and increased demand resulting from targeting.”

The greatest hockey player of all time was Wayne Gretzky. He was the greatest player because he always skated to not where the puck was, but where he thought the puck was going next.
When Pandora dropped into the 7s, I understood why and I also understood the future potential of Pandora.

I think I know where it’s going next.
