ORLANDO, Fla. BlackBerry executives delivered a lengthy list of new announcements this week at the smartphone maker's annual conference, but the buzz has already shifted to what the company may be still hiding up its sleeve, including the possibility of a small tablet device. The rumours piqued the interest of developers and technology industry insiders at BlackBerry Live, a three-day conference in Orlando that wrapped up on Thursday. In some circles, it nearly overshadowed the company's launch of a new lower-priced phone and the unlocking of BlackBerry Messenger to non-BlackBerry devices. Whether or not a smaller tablet — or a phablet — is really on deck for the BlackBerry this year is debatable, but rumours travel fast and run rampant at events like this one. BlackBerry Live takes place at a hotel complex isolated from most of Orlando's surroundings, the perfect ecosystem for any

Are you planning to pick up the Blackberry Q10? Well if you are, you might be interested to learn that both T-Mobile and AT&T have launched pre-registration pages for the device, allowing customers to fill in their information and be notified when the device goes up for pre-order. While AT&T did not reveal how much they would be charging for the device on contract, T-Mobile has revealed that the Q10 will cost customers $99.99 as a down payment, with the device totaling $579.99 after 24 months.
The Blackberry Q10 is the Canadian company’s second attempt at a Blackberry 10 device, and one that might be well received among hardcore Blackberry users due to its familiar physical QWERTY keyboard layout and a design that is reminiscent of the Bold 9900. If you’re interested in pre-registering

BlackBerry confirmed at its Live 2013 conference that T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint will be carrying its Q10 smartphone in the U.S. While these three carriers have separate release dates for the device, all of them are lined up for a summer release. The Q10 is going to be the first BlackBerry 10 device that Sprint will carry, it decided not to carry the flagship Z10 smartphone. The company says that its chapter with BlackBerry doesn’t stop with the Q10, adding that there’s more to come from the manufacturer, hinting that it might carrying a new BlackBerry device, one that is perhaps due to release later this year.

Sprint will launch the BlackBerry Q10 this summer as its first BlackBerry 10 smartphone. Lois Eichelberger Fagan, director of product portfolio for Sprint, revealed in an interview with CNET that the company had originally planned to launch the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 together earlier this year, however the plan was abandoned after BlackBerry delayed the Q10 until June. The company decided the timing wasn’t right for a Z10-only launch and felt more confident in the Q10, which it believes will sell better among BlackBerry users because of its QWERTY keyboard. The executive noted, however, that the carrier isn’t done with BlackBerry and plans to release a second smartphone later this year. Fagan didn’t go into further detail about the device, only saying that there is “more to come.”

Although BBRY sports a year-to-date gain of more than 24%, the stock was cut to "underperform" from "neutral" at Exane BNP Paribas in pre-market action. Research In Motion Ltd is certainly no stranger to skepticism from the brokerage bunch, though. Just six analysts have handed out "buy" or better endorsements, compared to 11 "holds" and 13 "sell" or worse suggestions. What's more, the security's average 12-month price target of $12.30 reflects a discount to yesterday's closing price of $14.77. This leaves plenty of room for future upgrades and/or price-target hikes, which could push BBRY higher.

BlackBerry (BBRY) is making its messaging platform, BBM, available on Apple's (AAPL) iOS and Google's (GOOG) Android. The platform is still very powerful, and is a core asset for BlackBerry. Consider the following:
Over 60 million monthly active users
Over 51 daily active users connect for 90 minutes a day on average
Over half of the messages are read within 20 seconds of receipt
Over 10 billion BBM messages are sent daily
Now that Blackberry is opening a platform that has high engagement and strong loyalty among users to other platforms, the move serves to accomplish three things. First, the existing 60 million users on Blackberry do not need to switch platforms because users who already left will be reachable via BBM. Second, opening up BBM serves to showcase the value of a physical keyboard. BlackBerry users are quick to respond to messages because it is ...
