Puma going to pop Gale higher? I hope so. I saw that ACRX insider but I think it was small and options correct? That is so weird over there. great to watch. I bet a smaller biotech gets bought out soon. Hope we are holding the one.
TRVN is a direct hedge as it has a IV modified opiod with way less side effects than morphine. It is basically ACRX without the device. That drug is not their lead drug it also has a cardiac failure partnered with forest labs so if ACRX hits big it wont really affect TRVN, if ACRX bombs then all of a sudden this drug is a front runner.
If you want a spec stock that would hedge your ACRX. but also have potential growth in cardiac, check out TRVN. I believe perceptive thinks in a similar manner as they are one of the largest holders and added recently.
If they had this product (spent many 10s millions developing) in phase 3, it would be getting a 250mil value. Instead it is approved and they spend 5 mil, no additional cost to promote as they have a cancer sales team. At this cap the drugs they are developing are nearly free. Adam F needs to look at what this market cap is. It is not like it is getting a billion. Go pick on one of the grossly overvalued companies with no products and very little chance of approval.
They can add this to Abstral and now this has a chance to sell. If you can get a washed up product that noone is even attempting to sell for 5 mil, you take that chance any day. This was smart because they got a great deal. There is demand for these types of products, maybe they sell a few million annually. 5 mil is so cheap.
When I considered the infusion pumps. I only thought of the benefits for ACRX because a hospital could eliminate some of the lease expense. my blindside didn't allow me to consider that the makers would have a few tricks up their sleeves. Excellent point. However this is a period in time when I see change being more accepted/initiated in the hospital setting. I am rooting for ACRX because it is neat. However it may be too neat and hospitals have to consider the possibility of this system malfunctioning. At least the pumps are a known system (flawed but known) . Check out GALE today. Maybe they have enough in Abstral and this zofran product to justify the small cap, everything else gravy. Good gamble.
This is prime example of why I am still on yahoo boards. Cool idea. I think this is definitely the kind of news that would rocket go-pro into another realm. Any news from Gpro with an inventive idea and it is in the 50's seems to be stable around 40. When I bought the GPRO IPO I remembered listening to the stock guys bash the google IPO at 80 bucks or so. Saying how expensive it was. I wish I bought that one but I had no money then. Great ideas Freddy.
By the way I am having a lot of fun watching this ACRX. That AF article was perfectly placed. I have no idea what is going to happen, but it is great entertainment.
This stock has zero upside on the data release baked in. Very little downside risk left 10%??, If this surprises with good data I wouldn't be surprised to see 50% first day and a near double in a week. I like the odds. I like it as a long buy either way anywhere under 3.
I held PTX and I own a lot. Most from low-mid 4's. I considered selling but truly think 10's were in order. The yellen comments and now this Ukarine B.S throws a wrench in. I sure hope it holds here or I may panic sell. The nice thing is any day now they may announce the deal closing which should pop it very nicely. I was at the beach when the market tanked but looking at the PTX chart it appears there was a nice buyer willing to take blocks.
The rest of biotech looks bleak. I hold TWX, GPRO, DCR, IDRA, PTX, PCRX, TRVN . I sold off BCRX and ACRX and covered a DYAX short recently.
has some pain products, Perceptive bought quite a few shares
heart failure product partnered with forest labs.
Currently under its IPO price.
I used to hate you guys bashing but you have been right more than the longs here. This has been a dog.
Still nice to see someone stick their neck out. That is a gutsy call. You have been pretty right on so I will be interested to see what happens. Good luck
Maybe you want to consider this strategy in the future. I have a fair amount of BCRX. I short the overvalued run-up of a competitor. Good luck.
