A bunch of us had this dividend discussion at dinner Saturday.3 for $.65... with 1 vote for $.66
Check dividend history...always 3 or 4 cents.
BOD meets on the 8th or 9th to decide on this and other annual mwwting details.
One argument for raising it higher may be that Analysts are upping JNJ stock price forecast to upper $80's to low 90's. Dividend would have be raised high enough for yield to be over 3% for the whole year.
Kramer just re-iterated his split the company in 2 rant...too complicated IMO
This is my 13th year posting on Yahoo...any old longs left from 2000? We deserve this bull run...its been
a long road...just don't say "split"...jinx not needed here!
This is long awaited drug that will be a Billion dollar Blockbuster. Why do think the stock price has gone from $60 to $82 in such a short time frame. Insiders and UBS knew it was a Blockbuster.
No one got the answer yet. For 35 years
I have watched major stocks advance like MCD.
This dip is merely the result of Portfolio
managers unloading their window dressing profit makers, after the First of the year or quarter.
MO also got clobbered today.
Is Motley Fool board still active for JNJ?
Original posters have left this board after
some testy posters made it hard to read sometimes.
Approved after 1PM today. Black Box warning says to consult with Dr. if you are going to stop using drug.
JNJ is all ramped up to start marketing this long awaited
blockbuster along with Bayer, who is making it and marketing it in Europe.
This message board used to have many posts for news like this for JNJ.
OH well, Spin Dr. days are long gone!
Bayer and JNJ applied for Fast Track approval of Xarelto on January 5th, 2011
Law requires 60 day yes or no answer from FDA
Deadline would be this week at the latest.
Does anyone know if it means 60 business days?
If not approved for fast track, then it should be approved this fall.
JNJ stock will pop a point or so on the news...IMO
If Weldon retirement is announced it will pop up several
points or more!!!
In addition to your financial planner acumen, you did not mention the JNJ pipeline that may hit a homerun in the near future. Bayer is hoping for "fast track status on Xarelto". If approved in the next month, JNJ will have its sales marketing team up and running to Sell it in the US by July. If not fast tracked, it should be approved no later than the Fall. Some are saying that this Rx has $Billion dollar potential. It is a safer version of Warfarin(Coumadin-blood thinner)
It is already being used in Europe.
JNJ in a cost cutting move in the last several years, downsized the quality control division and plant inspectors. This is well known by insiders. Weldon will want to be well retired when this is revealed in future Senate/House hearings on all the recalls.
On a posiitive note, JNJ investors should do research on the RX pipeline for 2011/12. Xarelto is capable of being a $1Billion RX. The good news is that Bayer will produce it, and JNJ will only market it in the US. Stay tuned for final FDA approval in the near future.
As one of the original Yahoo posters on the JNJ message board, I would like to clarify the BOD issue.
BOD is handcuffed because they all live near Weldon and are socially connected as well. Their wives or spouse would be furious if their husbands voted Weldon out.
Further news has come out that reveals Weldon and management canceled the plant inspections several years ago in a cost cutting campaign.
Stay tuned to the Xarelto approval from the FDA. This is a $2 Billion Rx that will brighten JNJ prospects by the end of the year. Bayer is making the Rx and JNJ is marketing it in the US...no production problems here!
Early morning trading euphoria will be replaced by the end of year profit takers in the last hour of trading.
This has happened over and over in history.
Ex-dividend date looming next week will cause irrational morning buying to be replaced by hardened wall street traders who will sell into the year ending weekend for various tax selling reasons or simply smart trader instincts...you pick!
Happy New Year!
Insiders have been mentioning Gorsky lately. Look for Weldon to announce a delayed retirement before annual shareholders meeting in April or earlier if screw-ups continue.
Also if Xarelto does not get approved, he will be toast.
JNJ up 1% in early trading on POSITIVE Xarelto news.
FDA will get the results and should rule quickly to approve, based on the favorable and unbiased results.
Patients taking Coumandin(Warfarin) having been anxiously awaiting this positive news. They should be contacting their congressmen and the FDA to urge quick approval.
Several news items earlier this month hinted that Bayer
Xarelto study news to be released on 11/15 could be positive.
News item mentioned that new blood thinner was not less effective than Warfarin in long term study.
Estimates of $10-15 Billion in sales are being given.
Very little else is known about the study.
JNJ and Janssen(Ortho-McNeil) will market it in US, if all goes well. JNJ surely needs some good news for a change.
Old timer on this board posts...
Laddie boy has it spot on.
Weldon said today what he did not let Goggens say this summer. She was told to say she knew nothing about
Today Weldon laid it out clearly, that JNJ knew the
compounds they purchased to make the Tylenol were tainted. They did not make any new Tylenol with the tainted compounds.
The Tylenol that was sold and remaining in the stores was not part of the tainted batch. To be Safe, they wanted to buy the remaining 1% of product in stores and dispose of it. No one got sick from this!
If Weldon's story is not true, then he will have to resign
in a flash. Goggens did not come off very well, and has resigned...err... asked to resign.
Goggins was hands down better than Weldon would have been.
Poor Weldon, he went in for back surgery, and the Dr. said he couldn't operate, because he couldn't find his spine.
Goggins sounded expert and her executive experience
showed she knew most of her stuff. Weldon would have winged it and not known half of what Colleen knew...IMO
Hoping Spin Dr or Marathon will report on shareholders meeting. Rumor says Prince will not be re-elected to BOD.
Seems to me others should step aside as well. We need strong BOD to counter Weldon...and for Xmas I want a Roll Royce?
New to this AARP investing for income instead of growth.
So far I have PHK, EAD, EXG,AOD,NCZ,DHY,HIX, ETY, and JNK
Can any of the serious investors give their 2 cents worth about which 4 are the safest or reliable.
