May 5th is the ex dividend day. The first day that the stock will trade without the dividend. The payment of the dividend comes in June, but was already recorded and accounted for yesterday. Sorry people who believed the foolish post on this board.
Even Worse, shareholders had to own the stock by the 4th of May. Ex Dividend day of May 5th, today, is the day that the stock is trading without the dividend... Hence the term, ex-dividend. .24 cents of todays losses come directly from the dividend payment which will occur in June around 1 month from now.. Sorry suckers and those who are uninformed.. If you bought today expecting the dividend, you were suckered in.
