I'm not shocked at all. The Fed can't and won't do Squat until President Trump takes office in January 2017.
It makes sense for Yellen to screw retirement savers out of a 4% return on savings, while making her banker buddies rich instead.
My prediction: The Fed won't raise interest rates in December either. Nope, they're stuck with massive quantities of low interest bearing bonds from QE. The Fed has to dump all of these first, before raising interest rates.
I'm looking for a new 8 inch tablet. I looked at the HP Slate tablets, but I was turned off by the name 'Slate'. The name 'Slate' reminds me of big heavy bricks, or Fred Flintstone using dinopower to mine big old heavy boulders at the quarry. The name 'Slate' is still better than Dell's alternative 'Streak', which sounds like someone didn't make it to the toilet fast enough. But my biggest disappointment was most of these tablets were running the Windows 'Modern UI' instead of Android. At least Android has an App Ecosystem instead of the lame apps on the Windows store. So what's the verdict? The Samsung Galaxy S2 8 inch Android Octa-core tablet rules!
Sentiment: Strong Sell
But even absent that massive hit, the quarter wasn't a good one. That $22.2 billion of revenue is down 5 percent on the same quarter last year, and excluding the one-off Nokia charges, operating income was $6.39 billion, down 3 percent year on year. The company's Device and Consumer segment was down sharply, as sales of non-volume-licensed Windows and Office continued their fall on the back of a weak PC market: Windows license revenue from OEM preinstalls was down 22 percent, and consumer sales of Office were down 42 percent. Windows Phone revenue was down an even sharper 68 percent, due to a decrease in royalty payments, though sales of Lumia hardware were up more than 10 percent to 8.4 million, compared to 7.5 million in the same quarter a year ago.
Lots of consumers want to buy something else besides a big noisy Desktop PC or heavy bulky 15 inch Laptop running Windows 8. Too bad those are the only devices that use AMD processors.
The Middle East has been unstable for over 70 years, before W Bush was even born.
