Unfortunately, if we are depending on Jack's presentation skills, we are Fkd. In fact, none of our C-level is a good presenter. We have to accept that and hope they do a so-so job - that is the best they have managed so far. I certainly wish you are right., but we are still dropping - no sign of significant support.
Arena does not have the history of releasing interim results - they said before year end, and if history is an indication - that means REALLY CLOSE to the end of the year. In 5 years I have not seen them release anything early. Just being realistic. Our scientists may be brilliant, but they are not fast. Our PR and IR have been deficient and sometimes non-existent. You'd need someone with a sense of marketing on the BOD - which we lack. The science will eventually win, not aided by the winds of marketing, but on it's own - which takes longer. I have adjusted to this reality and plan to hold ARNA longer than originally planned. Anyone looking for a quick buck might be disappointed. I'm in for the long haul (pun intended).
They have been doing the latter for quite some time IMHO. We have been on a steep downward trend since May (not my opinion, just fact - look at the chart). Looks like it MIGHT hold here. What's different this time as opposed to other times is that the short interest has DECREASED during the same time frame. It seems that finally the shorts are seeing this trend as an opportunity to get out. All I can hope is that the HFs are the shorts getting out (and not the retail shorts), as this will put us in a position to finally run when the scripts increase, new countries get approved, new partnerships inked, new combinations (Belphen) and applications (smoke cessation and diabetes) are announced and begin producing revenue. The HFs have the financial fortitude to keep the price depressed indefinitely unless tutes step in and start buying and holding. Retail longs are by-and-large out of powder (extremely obvious) and retail shorts are not much better.
I plan to sit on this for years and will not release a share at least until ADP371 is approved - a good 2 years away - if not more. My advice to those who care to listen is : have an exit strategy that is in line with your situation.
Don't quit your regular job - you will not make as a visionary. You seem to know the future so well, as if it has already been written. MSFT has a long term vision - same as AAPL. To write them off like that is idiotic. And your bought MSFT puts and AAPL calls into the Q reports... Genius... /Sarcasm off.
Hello Sharon fake. Don't you have a flight to Kuala Lumpur to take?
You call this a serious discussion? Based on what the label says? These possible side effects are there to protect the FDA's #$%$ and nobody else. Doctors know it.
Sure sounds like your knowledge of Arena is cursory at best and your approach to try and pry shares free from the "pragmatic retail shareholders" is reprehensible Very smooth approach, but makes you an uninformed piece of shiet just the same.
Yes, but I wouldn't imagine this will be a large amount since Israel is not a huge market.
I'd like to see a bigger partner than EISAI for ADP371 when is goes into phase 3, but something tells me ADP371 will sell itself - no resistance from doctors, no resistance from insurance co.s, a simpler matter of marketing, sales and distribution than Belviq. So, a solid relationship with Teva now is a good thing. JMHO.
edi, 10% gains week over week is impossible. Be realistic. Also, this manic thinking of living week by week on the script numbers is insane. Let's look at months and quarters -as weeks have variations due to holidays and are too small of a piece of information to be significant. Month over month should show a steady and undeniable trend.
You are a liar and an alarmist - and you have no way to back up your ridiculous post. NO WAY TO BACK IT UP, because you don't own the future. Conclusion: you are just another idiot.
Since all they seem to understand is money, here is a clue from the article from PR Wire:
"About Chronic Pain
In the US alone, an estimated 100 million adults are burdened with chronic pain. Pain is the second leading cause of medically related work absenteeism, with greater than 50 million workdays lost each year. The annual US economic cost related to chronic pain is estimated at $560-$635 billion. The global pain management therapeutics market was estimated at $29 billion in 2010."
Good luck keeping a lid on this for long, as tutes will take notice.
The fact that they are trying to push the PPS down today shows their scant little understanding of what ADP371 mean. Sure, still a year or two away before we get FDA approval, but this should get fast-tracked.
Yes, but we still need to hire someone who is good at IR as well as PR. I have owned a significant amount of ARNA shares since 2010 and they have consistently underperformed in this area. Enough!
There are two schools of thought here.
1) Great that short interest is declining so these devils from HFs will finally release the stranglehold they have on ARNA and let it run.
2) Terrible, we were counting on a short squeeze and instead these shorts are getting out while the price goes down!
Personally, I have stated here many times that the shorts are tenacious and smart and would find their way out thru options and other manipulation since we had no further events that would cause an stampede (unless we saw incredible script numbers growth for several weeks in a row - which is not happening). I say, let them out and good riddance. Go mess with someone else.
Great point. What's not surprising is that our C-Level folks absolutely SUCK at PR and presentation skills (and marketing skills in general). They seem to act more like geeky scientists who have never sold a pencil in their lives.
As shareholders we should demand better PR and IR.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Van, if you believe C will take more sales from Arna than VVUS, you are delusional. Most likely folks suffering from the horrible - if dangerous - side effects from VVUS will give C a try.
It's amazing to me how many folks have difficulty understanding the simple concept of per/day average. I agree with Retail - it was a good week. Now we have to show growth next week OVER THE PER DAY AVG which means - that for all those ignorant folks out there - it will look like a huge week, albeit could imply only average growth on a per day base.
Sounds like fabricated BS or a disgruntled Wally-type employee who probably deserves to be fired anyway. Good try. Love the energy you shorts are putting behind this.
We need new blood. JL may have gotten us here, but we need someone else to take ARNA to the next level, and JL is just NOT the man. He is absolutely TERRIBLE at presentations, equally bad at PR and media interviews. We need a better business person, someone with actual communication skills and WS institutional relationships.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
