Was negative yesterday and doubled down. Got lucky. Missed a little bit of gain but so what. Rolling into an SVXY position now. If volatility spikes next week I'll buy more. I really don't like trying to time UVXY but did it a week ago cause it looked so predictable. Almost sold yesterday but decided to wait one more day. GLTA.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Whoops. I made a mistake. $11.55 actually. Sucked leaving $0.50 on the table but better a gain than a loss. Boy this board is nasty!
Because UVXY doesn't track the VIX you moron. It tracks the S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Index. There's always a dampening effect.
Down 12.66% after buying more today. May do one more buy later in the week. I'm not worried but have to say it's strange seeing the VIX spike so much today with a market down less than 1%.
I beg to differ that VIX 40 IS difficult. It's only been 40 one day out of the last 2 years. How does that qualify as NOT difficult? I'm obviously betting the VIX settles down now, and fairly quickly.
I'm already in SVXY. I really don't like playing UVXY anymore (got burned too many times) but did once last week and made some $.
I've been trading SVXY since the beginning of the year and more actively since April. Been able to ride it up, sell, then buy back a few bucks cheaper each time. I left some money on the table last round, but still profited, and am back in now and would be happy (and probably sell again) at $61-$62.
