You ask a lot of very peculiar questions that only allow for feedback that you don't want to hear. It ain't 40 or 50 years ago. Remember that...
"got to love the pumper going seven years with no results"
We have at least one result - you're a MORON. You're one heck of a result!!!!
"GM was following a self destructive pattern so I sold my shares. I avoid buying GM stock now, as the pattern is being woven again though General Motors is dead."
So, if you're not an investor or have some other interest, then why do you post here? Looking for an audience for your ranting?
"This new incarnation is Government Motors."
Ah yes - there it is. A political bent to every post. This little sentence is just whining about how GM was assisted by the Fed and you don't like it. Tough - it worked quite well. Further, it MOST LIKELY would NOT have worked as well if done "traditionally". I won't bother explaining why to you because you won't get it.
Those are my thoughts as well which is why I brought it up. It's rather obvious, to me anyways, that's what the UAW contract could cause as downturns are inevitable here and the wildcard right now is cheap oil that's driving truck sales...
I think it's fair to suggest that labor costs are easier to control in Mexico than here simply due to the economics of the region. What I don't know is if GM is dealing with an organized and represented labor force in Mexico. Let us know what is the situation down there if you know!
"Here's the 'so what' Persie. While TOTAL GM labor costs might be going up 1.3%, US labor costs are going up 4+% annually for the next 4 years."
I will not disagree with your point at all except that GM is indeed a global company and labor costs are rolled up that way. There will always be regional differences in structural costs, in this case, labor costs.
"However, the 'so what' is that the UAW has compounded their already non-competitive wage structure when compared to the rest of the world. Their dwindling numbers will continue to fall during this contract period due to increasing imports from Mexico and other parts of the world that have reasonable wages for unskilled workers. It is inevitable."
Of course they did - again, we can agree. But your point about small vehicle production going to Mexico and more profitable vehicles being made here is foreign to corn_head. He simply doesn't understand what the UAW gave up to have higher wages here in the US. As you said, it is inevitable. The represented "unskilled" labor #s will continue to go down because GM MUST remain competitive, here in the US, and globally. I think GM secured an "OK" labor agreement that allows them to be a) competitive and b) more flexible in terms of where product gets built.
GM is in a MUCH better financial position than in the past - there is little to no chance of being on the same path to destruction that led to BK in '09.
corn_head doesn't understand the facts - that is clear.
"You are the one who has a very hard time understanding basic capitalistic economics. You really should look into some courses on macro/micro economics and read Paul Kennedy's book on the Rise and Fall of the Great Powers. It outlines why great nations fail, mostly because of government overspending."
I'm TRYING to talk GM and you keep mixing in politics. You deflected because you are wrong. I don't care about your personal views on politics nor do I really much care what you have to say.
I suggest you go to a message board where you can talk about politics all you want.
Meanwhile, GM's labor costs are only going up fractionally. You lose - again.
Have a nice day.
"The WORLD is a big place & Toyota dominates..."
You are right samantha, toyoDUH DOES dominate in a few categories, like:
- the MOST recalls, globally, since '09 when they were caught lying
- a portfolio of vehicles where many are just not attractive (I'll admit they've gotten the message, however)
- inexpensive, but I'll call it cheap, engineering executions on many, many vehicle attributes
- emerging market vehicles
toyoDUH does NOT dominate in the following areas:
- the US market (they're getting their clock cleaned every month)
- the North American market
- the China market
Note that these are the most profitable markets in the world and the data shows, quite clearly, that toyoDUH isn't anywhere near the top.
Don't let the facts bother you scammy...
"Personality_less does seem to have a problem with the concepts of corporate economics, Macro and Micro economics, political economics and any kind of economics. He thinks that you can get something for nothing and as much of it as you want, but wishing it is so."
You have your anti-corporate blinders on.
You couldn't be more incorrect, it appears, about so many things...
"You do know that the Contract is adding an enormous amount including bonuses amounting to 10 000 dollars,"
LOL! PAY ATTENTION MAN...
It is NOT an enormous amount. Have you NOT been paying attention to those here, and several articles, that have broken down the delta in labor costs? Ford's has increased the most @ 1.5%. GM's is less, around 1.3% increase.
So, please tell me that 1.3% is an ENORMOUS amount. As far as the contract signing bonuses go, SO WHAT. The other OEMS had similar and guess what? THERE ARE BONUSES AT EVERY CONTRACT SIGNING.
You're jealous - get over it.
YOU said the labor costs are a lot higher. That's not true.
"GM is having to pay much higher labor production costs with the new contract with the UAW."
That simply is NOT true. At all. Stop lying.
"It's okay for you to mock TM investors by calling them morons but if someone comes onto this board and calls GM investors morons that's not okay."
LOL! Oh, you are a piece of work and lump too much together. Pay attention MORON. I post SOMETIMES on the toyoDUH message board to make sure readers there know some easily verifiable facts about a few things. I do call out one particular MORON there, for sure, who has his head so far up his own southern end it's laughable. Meanwhile, you and all your stupid IDs are just harassing folks here like there's no tomorrow.
"No wonder why there are articles about you and dogs and jeye and cross dressing and pending operations and marriage."
Yeah - go ahead and encourage that kind of posting. It's real beneficial here. Maybe for MORONS...
Gee - I wonder how that happened!!!
It's a much merrier CHRISTmas when the evil is cast out.
"When Will the Pumpers Give up?"
When will the basher-bonehead MORONS going to give up?
It doesn't matter that I post on the toyoDUH board once in awhile.
What matters is that you, with all your stupid ID, are a moron. That's what others here take away when they see all your stupid posts.
You can't possibly win this argument...
