"get a grip. you obviously don't have a lot of experience in industry"
perfect_moron, you can't re-insert your head in your south end right about now.
I've been in the industry for 33 years and I seriously doubt you have ANY idea of what the heck you post about. I've been in mutiple roles (manufacturing, engineering, advanced technology), have been to dozens of tools shops and suppliers, auto shows, SAE shows, etc. etc. etc. I have defensive publications, patents and a Chairman's Award. Did you even think about my comment before you replied?!?!?!
"as the 2000's saying go people, process, technology..."
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot are you talking about?!?!?! Don't bother trying to explain...
"For those of you paying attention, there was yet another victim inside GM from the Valukas report yesterday."
OK - what's the news here?!?!? Please share because if you are talking about another salaried employee being shown the door, I haven't heard anything today. I've been very busy but the rumors find their way around.
Pray tell wngr!
"why is it complicated? gm makes cars and car parts..."
What an IDIOTIC thing to say, let alone think. OMG - you're dumber than we thought of you already...
"love my Hyundai. Keeps on going with no recalls"
Are you suggesting that hyundai/kia has no recalls? Because that would be a lie.
Oh, and if you don't respond to the recall letters that you've received doesn't mean that your vehicle hasn't been recalled...
"Use your head!
A person who is extremely well paid to represent a major corporation's best interest should not be assumed to be impartial."
You bonehead - use YOUR head.
A well-respected person like Valukas AND his law firm wouldn't risk their reputation. We've been over this before and this same thing has been mentioned in respected media as well (quotes from other well-respected folks).
Give it a rest...
"As long as Obama is in charge, you will be correct. When a more sensible leadership takes over, GM will drop the Volt faster than you can say Jack Robinson"
I don't think so - I really don't. Stranger things have happened but the technology is GOOD.
"have you not noticed the bashers hitting GM every day?"
Really webby?!?!?! How many ACTUAL intelligent bashers are there really posting here? There are SO many moron bashers it's ridiculous and you're giving the bunch credit?
"This shows why you should not take the company lawyer's word for anything."
Lawyers can suck for sure. Like the ones trying to take GM to the cleaners for STUPID #$%$.
Anyways, I think you've noticed that the lion's share of the 15 that were fired were from GM's legal staff. There are already significant changes at GM, the construct of the executive and safety staffs. I know that you don't want to hear that "it was the old GM" but it's clear that it was.
Further, the Valukas report was very tactical - you can't disagree with that nor can you really challenge the information and findings within the report. He identified behavior issues that won't be repeated. Not saying there won't be more stones unturned of the old GM, but, the changes taking place now will set GM up nicely for decades with regards to the "customer is first".
"This company has no ethics. I really believe the government should severely penalize it so it learns its lesson"
And there you have it - another basher bonehead is born!
"It would be interesting to see how low GM shares can go with all the bad publicity, selling by big players, and the law suits. My take is much lower."
And it's getting clearer - you're starting to post like a basher bonehead would. Or someone that wants to take, or has already taken, a short position.
What's funny is that the bad news is already out, the news of the "selling" you mentioned is old and all is already priced in.
Sorry - you're on the wrong side of this discussion
Did you think I didn't know that? Really?
Please understand that your original message could easily be interpreted as all these instiutional investors have sold (meaning ALL) of their shares. Don't even suggest that it couldn't have been. Your post was easily seen as a "basher" post meaning to "get at those longs" or encourage the shorts. It really adds little value here. So, while there has been all this "bad news" with the recalls and all, GM's share price has RISEN and is paying dividends. Plus, as other longs here know, many simply can't read the financial balance sheets and see that it's good news. Further, GM's sales just seem to keep doing well - VERY well in fact as can be seen in the April and May results.
P.S. Do you need an education in DCA? Just asking...
It was interesting that only ONE toyoDUH owned brand, a Lexus ES, was a segment award winner. Not ONE toyoDUH or scion branded vehicle made it to the top of any segment.
toyoDUH kwality ain't all that...
it was very interesting, and telling, that not ONE toyoDUH or scion branded vehicle was a segment award winner. In fact, the only toyoDUH vehicle that made it to the top was a lone Lexus ES.
toyoDUH kwality ain't all that...
Sentiment: Strong Sell
How about you just shut your pie-hole?
Regarding your ripping on union costs and that the OEMs agreed to them, which is indeed true, BUT IT'S OLD NEWS YOU MORON. How about you talk about wages/benefits since the restructuring, say over the past 5 years? You MUST agree that significant changes happened!
Don't misunderstand me - I am NOT defending the UAW here in any way, shape or form. They're a necessary evil at this time. I think it is a dinosaur concept, at best, and completely unnecessary but it is what it is at this point. And, it's reasonably competitive. Did they rape the OEMs in the past? Yep, but that isn't the current situation. The UAW, and generally, organized labor, has seen the writing on the wall, and it wasn't a good story for THEM. For the automakers, it's been reasonably fixed. Are there going to be challenges in the future? Sure - but I think those will be worked out in a competitive fashion as well.
Anyways, have a decent Father's Day.
Try to ignore the morons like rusty and snake_weasel as much as possible. What these two morons, and add sammy to the equation, don't realize is that ALL the other OEMs are combing through ALL safety-related NHTSA and customer complaints, like GM has been doing for the past several months. We will see record levels of recalls and probably a record level of vehicles recalled this year.
I predict that toyoDUH will regain the annual crown as they have OWNED it since '09.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
I wonder if executive's heads at Takata will roll. They absolutely HOSED the Japanese OEMs with the air bag module (specifically, the propellant). I would be ticked off, as an OEM, that a supplier quality issue forced the recall of MILLIONS of toyoDUH, honduh and nissan vehicles (not to mention any other OEMs that use Takata for that part). Could this bankrupt Takata? It could be possible, especially if all the OEMs demand that Takata pay for all the recall charges.
