Disclosure, I borrow this from a poster on another board:

The all Administration is from the same bag of manure

CNBC's Fast Money Halftime Report (7/18/14): Dr. Schoenebaum Challenges Yellen Remarks About Small Cap Biotech Overevaluation
ISI Grp Bio: "MARK SCHOENEBAUM is a Senior Managing Director, heads ISI’s Health Care Research Team, and is ISI’s Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals-Major Analyst. He has been ranked Institutional Investor #1 Biotechnology analyst for the past 9 years. In 2013, his second year competing in the category, Mark was also ranked by Institutional Investor as the #1 Pharmaceuticals/Major analyst. In 2013, Mark was inducted into Institutional Investor’s All-America Research Team Hall of Fame, an award given to analysts who have earned at least ten #1 rankings."

During the CNBC segment, Dr. Schoenebaum, MD provided data and opinion questioning what Fed Chair Yellen (or her staff) was talking about regarding small cap biotech overvaluations. He stated that small cap valuations are in line with historical mediums and supported it with presentation of historical data.

IMO: Like I said before, Chairwoman Yellen overstepped her expertise and authority with her inappropriate and inaccurate remarks. It should be noted that Yellen was at the helm as CEO & President of the Federal Reserve Bank - San Francisco at the time of the 2008 Economic Crisis. The biggest catalysts, Countrywide Financial and IndyMac, fell within her regulatory jurisdiction and responsibility yet she failed to regulate the disastrous so-called housing bubble, subprime loans and credit default swaps that precipitated this crisis. She failed to recognize and regulate the early crisis symptoms then and now she is mistaken with her inappropriate and inaccurate remarks singling-out a specific segment of our economy

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Every biotech stock want down,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,f&**?/, salope

I'm surprised she didn't mention individual stocks by name. Outrageous.
Mrs. Yellen is an economist, she has never worked a day in the private sector. She is a theorist and has never created wealth. There is always a concern about over speculation, but given the time and money needed to approve a drug, I think she is missing a big part of the picture. For being such a critic Adam , you sure let this one sided comment slip through the cracks.

NY Fed President William Dudley said the same thing about biotech in March, and it likely had a big impact on sentiment about the sector.

yes , 37% if you sell before 12 month, 10% after, so you pay 27% from your profit and keep 73%, not bad , with 10 K from 11.26 to 9.50 you save $17,600 by selling early and next Dec 2014 you clean up your portfolio from all your lemon to upset your gain, pas mal je pense!!
    Au revoir de Paris.

Shares of MannKind (MNKD) have plunged just now, with the drop being the FDA’s decision to approve Afrezza inhaled insulin but requiring warnings on the box. I’m guessing investors don’t like it, just based on how this chart looks:

  • FDA approves Rockwell Medical's Calcitriol
Rockwell Medical is up nearly 8% in pre-market trading after the FDA approved Calcitriol, its low-cost vitamin D injection for patients undergoing chronic renal dialysis. Vitamin D deficiency is common in dialysis patients, and can cause elevated parathyroid hormone levels (PTH) which lead to various bone and joint problems. During clinical trials, Calcitriol was shown to significantly reduce PTH levels.

The majority of Rockwell Medical's revenue is generated by hemodialysis concentrates and dialysates. Investor interest in two newer products -- Triferic and Calcitriol -- have caused the stock to rally 190% over the past 12 months.

Triferic is currently under FDA clinical review as an iron replacement treatment for dialysis patients. The FDA has scheduled a PDUFA action date for Triferic on January 24, 2015.

Triferic is expected to generate annual peak sales of $150 million to $250 million, and Calcitriol is expected to generate annual sales between $20 million to $138 million -- both of which would be big boosts for Rockwell, which only reported $52.4 million in sales in 2013.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
