My sources tell me that there are a few things going on here: Yes.......a (proposed) resort but more like a "preserve" with a designated area for development of condos and businesses. Also favorable tax treatment from the government.
Expect preservation groups to oppose this and not to expect anything soon. There is legal wrangling and compromise to come. There will be a battle over mineral and oil rights and due diligence.
Definitely NOT a theme park in the offing.
Announced after the bell today........the dividend will be 86 cents up from 75 cents.
Here are details:
Announce date December 4 (today)
x-dividend date December 12
record date December 16
Payable date January 16, 2014
Well known BEAR on Organovo Richard Pearson is back with another of his negative jawbone articles on "our company". It's very long, detailed and unfortunately....full of misinformation. Mr. Pearson has in the past, made no secret that he is SHORTING this stock and obviously, trying to do this again so that he can get YOU to sell and HE can make money doing so.
What annoys me is the timing of this article. Whether you agree with my POV or not, ONVO has indeed had quite the run up and is way overdue for a period of consolidation and even/or a correction. But this article SMELLS big time. He wrote this (my guess) over the weekend and published it this morning. Mr. Pearson smells an opportunity and he is seizing it.
I have written on some of the games investors can play on this board before and what you should do about it. Let him make $1-2 a share and then he'll cash out. But this time there are block trades that will (along with us "little people") buy on the dip. No one can move a stock on their own.........not even the likes of Warren Buffet or Carl Icahn. They can only be influential at best.
By now, I suspect that Mr. Murphy is aware of the situation. It may even be discussed at the "roundtable" meeting this morning. No one likes having their hard work "taken out back and flogged".
Mr. Pearson is entitled to his opinion (even though I think it's wrong). Just (dear readers) stay calm and focused and remember that we are LONG TERM and Mr. Pearson IS NOT. He is an opportunist (imo) and nothing more. He will be back again and again with the same tactics for the same purpose.
Take it in stride.............
Can't disagree with your premise but I want to toss this out as a contrarian pov. Usually, when the little guys (you and the rest of us) get in, the big boys sell to them.
I wonder this time.....if the shoe is on the "other foot?" Maybe we should sell to the big boys and get out when the price is right?
Cramer's newsletter with Stephanie Link are following this stock and have been for sometime. Look at ONVOs news page on Yahoo!!! If CNBC stays positive things...it indicates mass influx of $$$ and a short term sell. If they are negative, it could trigger a sell and a buying opportunity
When people become fearless and euphoric about a stock...it raises a "yellow flag" for me personally. I'm seeing this on the board here.
Any thoughts? Friendly fire only please. I'm not a basher. Take a look at my posts......Phil
Hi Annie..........Ever since you came back from your visit to China.........the stock has gone nuts (in a good way). I think we owe it all to YOU and not Buzz Lightyear!!!!! Phil
p.s. some phone calls and contacts already brewing and news I suspect will come as a result.
What did you use to base your information from? Oujia Board, Crystal Ball, heads or tails? Come on........tell us so we can invest in some other of your "predictions"
Welcome to the "tiny but mighty" voices of reason. I agree that there are probably some here who have"bet the farm" on one stock (diversity is the key for the long term). But being a former stockbroker and now retired and investing for myself, the more negative these guys get, the more "bullish" I become..........because they have been totally wrong from the on start.
I look forward (as will the rest of us "sane" people) to your comments this coming weekend........Philip
Many great points......congratulations. A couple of additions if you please: Institutions are buying in and I suspect that next year.......... Russell 1000 and 2000 indexes along with some etf funds will also jump on board.
The companies you mention are all based on perception rather than in the "old days" of brick and mortar, it was about earnings either for products or services.
Companies such as ONVO and other companies (not to be mentioned here) because of the perception of what they potentially bring to the "table" run up in advance of future events. To some, this could be (and rightly so) a form of speculation. But I (and several of us here also) prefer to think of it as something
"visionary" because we can see what others can't.
Of course if we're wrong............nah............................................leave that to the BASHERS!!!!!!!
Yup..........I agree. The stock may be doing this now and perhaps this may be a reason why institutions such as Vanguard and others decided to invest. They see this as a REAL COMPANY.
Let's hope so. Institutions continue to stay long on this stock. Btw, I never properly thanked you for bringing this stock to my attention. THANK YOU!!!
Hope you are feeling better..........
He's all over the board with the same garbage on other stocks. He's a comedian who is pathetically unfunny.
You make some good points but I think we may have had a correction already. With the stock price fluctuating as much as it did on Friday and with the large volume generated, a case could be made. We should know more in the coming week as I expect there to be continued larger than average volume and based on the short term chart, a channel formation to the upside would imply an upward bias.
Just my opinion..........
He's entitled. Why shouldn't he be allowed to reap what he so far has sowed? He will continue to receive additional shares and probably sell more over time. I would.......... if I knew that this were the case for me.
Plus, for a guy who works an 18 hour day, (5,6,7 days a week?) and makes $81,000 a year doing it, what's wrong with taking some extra $$$? He still has to pay taxes and feed his family (metaphorically speaking) like the rest of us.
Compare this to the likes of some of the CEOs of big banks who get paid $$$MILLIONS$$$ in salary, bonus' and stock options and then the company they run pays $$$BILLIONS$$$ in penalties, legal fees etc.
I don't have a problem with Keith Murphy cashing in 1.5% of his holdings..........just my opinion.
Indulge me please as I follow up on this original post. 25 million shares? Word is out!!! No more pump and dump (except for the bashers...they're morons anyway!!!). With 33% of the outstanding shares traded Friday and a $2 volatility within the stock price, we may/may not have had an intraday correction.....(hard to say). We'll know more on Monday....too few shares to short and buying "puts" is risky.
I'm a little nervous (short term) with such a large move up. The angle of ascent is definitely bullish but if the angle moves (45 degrees or higher), this is a sign (intermediate term) of a melt up and an indicator to sell, wait 30 days to let the stock consolidate/rest and then buy back in for the long term. Worth keeping an eye on and obviously, I can't predict the future and I could be totally wrong.
Perhaps those who use other forms of technical analysis can verify or dispute my thoughts. I welcome any and all opinions because we need to (as shareholders) adapt and adjust our thinking, as this company is no longer the company we bought 3-6-9 months ago.
We need to accept that "our company" has added day traders, institutions and will be soon be followed by analysts. All of this is a "good thing" .
Stay positive my friends...............
