This puppy is about to pop. It's reminding of that 3-day wkend 2 yrs ago. I'm pretty sure we have another long wkend coming up soon. RNR
Very interesting , Rskrwrd. Thanks for this. Woke up this morning at 4ish and on CNBC was Fujitsu CEO of maybe Europe... not sure. He was talking about IoT and connecting bed sheets for hospitals. Making sure they are switched and cleaned regularly, bc if not this will cause higher rates of infection. There seems to be unlimited potential for IoT. PN
At Nexterday North, a seminar event in Helsinki, Risto Siilasmaa, the chairman of Nokia, told the tale of the company's $7.2 billion (4.2 billion) acquisition by Microsoft from a new angle.
ITPro reports that Siilasmaa explained how the dealmaking process broke down four times and was looking more and more uncertain until, one Sunday night, he called up then-CEO Steve Ballmer and asked for a #$%$2 billion (1.4 billion) loan so that he and his team could buy the remainder of Nokia, known as NSN, that Microsoft didn't want.
For those who are unfamiliar, Microsoft bought the devices part of Nokia (i.e. the Lumia brand), leaving Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), the less well-known part of the business that manufactures data networking and telecoms equipment, the HERE mapping technology, and various other smaller ventures.
NSN was valued at #$%$3.4 billion (2.4 billion) but Nokia only had around #$%$2 billion (1.4 billion) on-hand and so Siilasmaa needed another #$%$2 billion to make the deal happen.
According to Siilasmaa, Ballmer agreed to a loan of #$%$1.5 billion (1 billion) meaning that the deal could go through.
Microsoft recently took a write-down of more than $3 billion (1.9 billion) on the Nokia deal while the value of NSN has multiplied 15 times in the past three years.
Where O where are our BR operatives! They have set the trap, dripping with iniquity, for those who may be tempted. Such a YoYo of evildoers trying to snare unsuspecting newbies hehe. Oh where are these BR hooligans. You know who you are and why o why have you been MIA for two days each and every one of you. Don't make me call out your names. Your absence speaks volumes.
Maybe the reason Nokia is being pulled/tugged lower today. Doing a little research and looks like PK called this with his, "Good signs" thread about how this will benefit Nokia Networks. Merci, PK.
This is some deep stuff , ccllevve. I don't know who you are , but this is great. Thanks for the meaningful, profundity.
