Gradually the public is recognizing that Ebola is NOT spreading in the US. Over 50,000 died from influenza last year and we look the other way. FEYE is headed higher.
Please tell us which puts you buy and how much you pay for them. I agree you have a chance of making some money on puts bought tomorrow, since we keep selling most rallies. With Friday's rally and another in the making for tomorrow, some correction is a definite possibility. Hard to know about AAPL. If earnings are good, it could move the market. Even if earnings only meet expectations, projections for iphone 6 should be rosy enough to protect against much downside. If you really believe we are about to tank, buy some VXX calls. Personally, I would be careful about betting against this market.
It is annoying, but it is up around 15% from the lows of October 13. So, we have those who bought in that range selling for a quick nice gain, and lack of buyers who fear seeing it back around $25. I do think we have shorts abundant in the market at present as well.
I feel your pain. I own some EVEP and HK. Did you watch that awful Georgia game last weekend? I thought with Gurley out, Mizzou had a good chance, but they looked awful. Re strategy, and it is hard to do, I suggest buying some other non oil/gas beaten down stocks during these brutal selloffs. Pick some stocks that are already oversold and then consider buying them on a very ugly opening when you think the risk for falling further might be minimal. Start small. When you get a decent move, take some of all your profit. Look what FEYE, BABA, and many others did on today's reversal. MIZ ...
Today they had to give it back to me and all the other BABA lovers. I plan to keep my BABA for a long time. It is better than most others.
Yes, hope a few bought their ticket. Could have bought the expiring $350 puts for .17, so if the stock opens at $330 a $17,000 gamble would be worth over $2,000,000.
You must be standing on your head. The market was down big today and BABA was higher. Futures are higher. There is good support in this range, and as the universe of attractive stocks narrows, more buyers will pick up shares of BABA. I hope you aren't short, as this would be a lousy pick for a short. The oil stocks have been destroyed and returned great profits for anyone who was short. Many other good shorts were also easy pickings. BABA not so much. I think $100 by the end of the year is very possible. A little over a year ago I considered buying BIDU at $90 after a big pullback, but fearing I might be catching a falling knife I chose not to. Now it trades near $200. Very likely we will see something similar with BABA.
Do you or anyone on this board have an estimate at what oil price drilling just stops because it is no longer profitable? Seems we are likely headed significantly lower still due to global slowdown. What I have read suggests Saudis and other middle east exporters will not slow production because that strategy did not work in the previous crisis. Instead they will keep producing until some companies stop drilling and supply begins to ease.
You're riding the wrong horse if short. There are so many places you could have made a killing being short this market, but for a stock to hold up well in this market tells me there aren't many sellers. With any bounce in the market we could easily see $2-$3 jump.
Coming soon. In the meantime, did you see this yesterday re pre-orders?
I'm guessing those claiming to have bent phones sat on them repeatedly. About as wise as a child leaving a bike behind their parents car in the driveway and then saying the bike was defective because it was damaged when the car backed over it. Let's use a little common sense press who want to write about this nonsense.
Thanks Elvis. Hoping there is enough premium in the options to sell covered calls a few bucks higher. I don't see the stock falling apart, as there is considerable demand that will result in buying on pullbacks IMO, but I also don't see the stock taking off quickly from here.
You won't buy a lot lower for two reasons. First, it won't go much lower and second, you're a short, not a buyer. Recent buyers need to hang in there. Options will be available soon, and if you're worried, sell some Oct $90 calls when they come out. Of course, the risk is that your stock may be called away.
