While I was looking for investment ideas I stumbled upon this message board. What a surprise, most of the posts here read like shouting matches. I have rarely seen people use such profound language and names calling in day-to-day life. I am sure the posters here do not speak to their friends or even strangers on the street in this manner. I also visited other message boards on the Internet and none of them are like this. Why is this one so special?
"Now, this may not alarm you, but it alarms me. Consider the fact that sales receipts are not meeting their operational expenditures, which includes servicing more costly additional debt. So, CA is dipping into cash. As the cash is depleted and the debt increases, what do they do then?"
If they are running out of cash, where did they find money to pay down over 1 billion in debt in fiscal 2002?
You are a man. I salute you.
The difference between a man and a boy is that a boy will not admit his own mistakes.
I truly admire your gifted ability of putting everything into negative perspective. I, as a parent of two, will much prefer an institution that provides quality onsite childcare than the ones without. If my company offered onsite childcare, my day-to-day life would have been much easier. Also there are many published scientific studies showing that exposure to a variety of friends is crucial for healthy childhood development. Your unique point of view seems defiant what is called common sense.
I have no idea how many CA offices offer onsite childcare and how many employees can benefit from it. But from the chain of posts, there seems to be at least four locations offer this service, including their U.S. and European headquarters, which I believe house quite a lot of people. My argument is that, comparing with the company I work for, and the companies many of my friends work for, that does not even have this option; CAs childcare program is definitely a plus, even if only a portion of their employees can take advantage of it. They deserve the credits.
Mr. Clinton did a reasonable job in his 8 years but I disagree with some of his policy. I have no idea who should be the mother of the year. I am sorry I cannot help you here.
If your friend does get a hold of information that can move stock price, and if he shares that with you before it becomes public, and you make trade based on that information, it is considered insider information. Please be careful and don't get your friend into trouble.
Are you suggesting that if I told my friends that I was planning to borrow $200,000 from the bank to buy a house, but later I decided to borrow $250,000, I would have been guilty for lying?
Every ten years BusinessWeek publishes a list of the top ten software companies in the world. If my memory serves, CA was the only one appeared in all three issues. I dont recall its exact standing now since I dont have those issues any more. Most of the companies in the first and second issues were gone, either bought by CA or just disappeared. Microsoft and Oracle were not in the first issue. History may not represent the future but nevertheless, it shows this company does have a solid foundation and it seems to me if they execute right, the future is quite bright. That is the reason I am interested in tracking it.
May I ask to whom did your post address? It read like you are attacking all posters. It is not nice and I am sure it was not your intent, was it?
I could have been overly reacted since your post was not a reply to any particular message. It just came out of the blue. I thought it might have been addressed to everyone. Now I understand it was not. Thanks for your clarification.
I don't quite understand the point you are trying to make. Are you suggesting that Charles Wang would have been a nice person if he did not help madeluca50 back in 1989 and should have let him die of cancer?
That is a very bold statment. KPMG serves a lot of companies. If what you said is true, most of the public companies will be guilty of overstate earnings and manipulate numbers. For that, I find it hard to believe and I will need more fact than just a couple of examples.
