As a consumer, Yelp just can't e trusted. Despite the fact they state the do not remove reviews, the truth is they are removing reviews, possibly for profit.

In March, I hired a contractor to do work on my home. The work was unsatisfactory and so I left a 3 star review on Yelp for the contractor stating the truth about my experience. At the time, there were several other mediocre reviews, stating the same lack of professionalism. Today, I looked at the contrators Yelp page and suddenly, they have a 5 star rating. All less than 5 star reviews, including mine have been removed.

While I understand Yelp might remove untruthful reviews from competitors, mine was 3 star with facts, not a 1 star hit piece. Considering the contractor does jobs where consumers are at risk for thousands of dollars, it's inappropriate that Yelp would remove these reviews.

End of story, I would never, ever trust Yelp for honest appriaisal of contractors.
