From today's story about Ma and NYSE... we getting close to something.
If a November IPO is in the offing for the NYSE, you could expect an S-1 filed from Alibaba any day.
Facebook's S-1 was filed in early February 2011. The company held its IPO in the third week of May."
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Personally, based on my own feel (which goes along with the 10-20x EBITDA inference above) I think that Yahoo will hit $40 before end of 2013 and we will be headed for the Apple, Google, Netflix type of share price in 2014. This is an opportunity to retire! :) There will be ups and downs as the market digests acquisitions and as shorts confuse the matter talking about 'core business' being down. However, when Yahoo Japan and Alibaba plans become clear and IPOs for Alibaba go on the market, all bets are off, double from there. At least.
Yahoo! Japan hiring a former Goldman Sachs M&A person... gonna be interesting... Gonna make Loeb sorry he sold at $29.11 !! :) When we hit $30 by Friday!
With earnings tomorrow and such a dramatic difference expected YoY why is the volume on this stock so flat today (and daily avg only 4M)? I would think there would be some buying in anticipation of good numbers. I bought in today at 21.31 and am here because of Loeb and what he did with my Yahoo stock. I think he is going to help drive this one higher as well.
Fortunately if someone had a bad trade or series of trades in the past a current one that is hit out of the park like $11 - $30 for Yahoo! will erase all of that... it is the interesting mix of multiple IDs talking to each other that makes that ignore feature great though....you should try it ... for real.
1. Share buybacks
2. Alibaba dividends
3. Alibaba IPO
4. Yahoo! Japan
5. Summly / Tumblr and other talent / IP acquisitions
6. More people (including me!) wanting to work for Yahoo!
7. Buzz on Yahoo path forward
8. Analysts upping their price targets
9. Over 50M shares traded today
Core business is deteriorating in search, but the company is working on becoming so much more than search and that is a good thing especially when combined with Alibaba IPO... $50+ by next year at this time.
