    Proxy

This is quiet a naive question: How to get the proxy card?
My bank did not send me yet anything.
Should I contact them or there is a delay?

    Thanks.

    What's wrong with #$%$$^#$^ Yahoo!!?

HD Zacuto contains 5.5M dots based on 4 colors per dot (find the video at 4 min)

    Test

The display is not from eMagin but certainly Microoled

    Go ahead Zero

While getting info on it, do you think you could find a link describing it enough to confirm that there 2 microdisplays in it? It is a binocular goggle ...

Do you know how long do they have to send the TM-NVG to Italy?

    Thanks for your input.

  • Hi,

Questions are better and better now that there are more people covering.

Anyway, I won’t be able to ask questions tomorrow so here are the few obvious points I would like to hear about:

    - Bonding issue: Is it solved, is it related to the SNU or it also affect Satella’s production, is it specific to a microdisplay (new digital svga. Redesigned sxga096?) or all types, RD or production displays involved, how long will it take to solve (time to solve it and time required for qualification by eMagin and the customers before they accept the displays again)?.

EVF customer: During Q3 conference, they mentioned one customer being interested by the xga displays for H2 2014: Is it the same customer which asked an external and an internal EVF in 2013? Is it still on for H2 2014? Are they discussing or they are negotiating/have a contract? Do they have specific requirements you need to work on (i.e.:color gamut, production capacity, etc.?)

Capacity and yield: How is the SNU doing? (If fine, the capacity of the SNU should now be at least twice Satella’s capacity) What is the actual capacity of the SNU and the full production line today (compared to the Satella or in $M based on the mix they have for this Q)? They mentioned 30 to 50 displays out of 116 not lost anymore due to design flaw solved: Can they confirm this increase in yield?

    - Backlog?
2014 revenue? Does it include a potential EVF customer?
    - Product revenue margin for 2014?
    - How do you see contract revenue for 2014: similar to Q4 2013, back to 2012 level?
RD: Updates on direct patterning, digital svga, xga (color gamut)

Q1 is historically the weakest Q and therefore used for maintenance of the Satella.

However, due to a "weak" Q4 2012, they did 8.3M total rev instead of the expected 10M, Q1 2013 was their strongest Q ever with 8.3M total revenue and 8.1M product rev..

    So here it is again

Potentially an interesting info to share: A company is just coming out with an external EVF with xga resolution.

So, this may be the initial customer which asked eMagin's team to make an external AND an internal EVF for them.....
This is the EVF-DC1 from Canon:

Compatible with the new Mark II, it offers an XGA LCD with a 2.36MP resolution.

Questions: I could not find any info about its size, is it from Epson (same pixel pitch and same size as eMagin's so it is easy to switch from one to the other)?

Is the internal EVF with the same company still on???? Andrew was quiet vague about it and only mentioned a (potential or real: I will have to hear Q3 again I guess) EVF customer for H2.

So 2013 will be bad and 2014 artificially better with 4M more in backlog or even Q1.
They may have been too optimistic but it means to me that they though the SNU could make the 5.6M during 1/2 Q with the yield and the speed optimization.
New hyp.: They produced the minimum required and focused on direct patterning with the first prototype supposed to be produced during Q4 2013.

You're right: It is always more complicated and a lot of information are not known to us.
Usually, it seems that the Satella maintenance is during Q1 (theoretically the smaller Q) and Q3 (Q4 is usually the bigger Q).
The way I understood it, all the main products are qualified on the SNU but during Q2, 2 main customers still needed to validate the microdisplays from the SNU and therefore the Satella was used for their productions. During Q3, it was mentioned that the SNU was using more oled compound per wafer meaning increased material cost so Satella was used for low production displays. However the Satella is much faster with high production displays. At that point I even don't exclude that they focus mainly on yield and produce the minimum number of displays required by the different contracts: Better to produce 10M revenue with 60% margin later than 10M revenue with 30% now.
Since they won't reach their estimated revenue because of production issues and not decreased number of contracts, 2014 backiog should be pretty significant. ill they finally be able to produce the displays?

    Hi,

SNU was fixed on November 8th so did produce displays only for 1/2 Q.

Revenue from Satella's production could be estimated around 3,3M based on Q2.
    The SNU produced 2.8M in 1/2 Q.
Without further improvements, it means to me the SNU can produce 5.6M revenue +3.3M from the Satella = 8.9M revenue for Q1.
It also means the SNU issues have been partially solved: Based on expected improved yield (30 to 50 displays thrown away because of defaults) and doubling of production speed, I think the SNU can produce by itself easily 10M revenue per Q. They are 1/2 way.
It would fit with Andrew 's hope to reach 8.8M for Q4 (3.3M from the Satella and 5.5M from the SNU producing only during 1/2 Q).

    Lurker,

Indeed it does. They are professionnals and this is not a $50 camera.
If you check the description of the camera, they write approx. if this is not the exact number like "approx. 2.360K-dot OLED color viewfinder".

Fuji xt1 EVF is 0.5 inch diagonal, not 0.48 so based on known producers of oled microdisplay, this would fit with Sony. I am not sure contrast and brightness will confirm who is producing the EVF. Personnaly I would prefer to find the information on pixel size (9.9um for Sony xga versus 9.6um for eMagin). This may have been the initial buyer for eMagin's EVF? Paul and Andrew rational has always been to say that Sony would not sell their EVF to competitors: It made sense to me if they can not get it somewhere else but if they can with eMagin, I guess Sony prefers to sell theirs.
I guess we will have to wait H2 2014: May be Fuji Xpro2.......

Is there a company which would not buy Sony's EVF even if cheaper than eMagin's?
Is there a company Sony would really not want to sell to?
Is there a company which wants really the best and is ready to pay more, expecting even better once the direct patterning will be working (2016 for 1/2 million EVF?)?
