Why don't we just completely eliminate the state DOT bureaucracy! We should privatize ALL the roads and pay tolls EVERYWHERE. Private corporations will charge the above costs for construction and maintenance PLUS whatever bloated profit margin they think they can squeeze out of us. Don't like it? Since the public has no voice on private corporate boards we can just go pound sand.
The headlines are almost too good to be true. "The Time Ted Cruz Defended a Ban on "Dilldows," says Mother Jones. "Ted Cruz Once Fought to Keep "Dilldows" Illegal in Texas," says Vice. But the facts are real. In 2007 Ted Cruz was the solicitor general of Texas and that year his office urged the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit to reject a constitutional challenge to the state's ban on the sale and distribution of sex toys that had been filed by some businesses that hoped to legally sell and distribute such items in the Lone Star State. "There is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one's genitals for non-medical purposes unrelated to procreation or outside of an interpersonal relationship," the Cruz team argued. The 5th Circuit disagreed and struck down the sex toy ban.
