The Mayo clinic won't treat someone with cancer that does not have insurance. If they would then why should any of us get insurance? You can't expect to show up at a hospital emergeny room and get chemotherapy. They will treat you if you have a gun shot wound or a broken arm, but not cancer. On anything that does not require immediate treatment they will send you away. Then when you try to make an appointment they will not make it until you can prove that you can pay. Uninsured poor people with cancer die of it. But then that can be said for many of the people who get chemo as well.
I am unaware of any way to get chemo therapy without insurance except for clinics funded by donations that are usually for children.
There is a lot of strong arming from the executive branch to get laws passed. Basically they can threaten you that you won't get anymore campaign funds from the national committies if you refuse to do what they want. And if they have enough influence to make that happen and the congressman is not powerful enough to resist that kind of pressure then they will do what they are told to do. Some congressmen are powerful enough to ignore these kinds of threats but then those are not the ones they try to strong arm.
Obama knew all of this and discussed it with is campaign staff and they decided to misguide their constituents so that they would not flush him down the toilet when they found out what he had done. He basically would not have been reelected had he told the truth. For him to lie was a matter of survival. But that is not when the deceit started. It was when they did some calculations and figured out that they would not get enough people to sign up for Obamacare if they didn't change the regulations so that the insurance policies would get canceled forcing many to get new policies.
The Republicans knew all of this going into the debt limit negotiations a few months ago and people thought they were being unreasonable. So exactly who is being unreasonable? What amazes me is that he screws people over and they come back for more with wide smiles on their faces as if he did nothing to them because they refuse to acknowledge it. He owns them. They are like his pets. It is like you walk up to someone and slap them on the face and they just turn the other cheek for another slap and then they give you a tip because they don't want to acept that maybe this guy is really as creapy as people are saying he is. He doesn't have very many close friends because anyone who gets close to him eventually does not like him because he lies to them and they get angry at him for it.
You haven't said anything. If you say someone is stupid but you cannot explain exactly what it is that makes them stupid then you have said nothing. The implication is that you don't know how to explain it in a way that would make you look like you knew what you were talking about. And I suspect this is the case.
Simply having the opposite philosophy as you isn't a reason. To the contrary, it is typical of liberals to berate people when they cannot defend their point logically so they resort to intimidation as a last resort. This is why many young people out of college are liberal at first because they are susceptible to peer pressure intimidation. Ask them to explain the reason they have their views and rarely can they do it with any degree of certainty. All they know is that these are the views of their peers so that is why they have them.
It is so characteristic of the liberal to avoid frank discussions of facts because it never works for them. Eventually they have to admit to things that they don’t want to admit to and first they try to change the subject to something they can defend or to aggressive comments meant to denigrate such as calling someone stupid.
You are completely in character. I would be surprised if you acted any differently. But the fact is that everyone has liberals figured out so there is no secret agenda being carried out. Everyone sees it. Except maybe the people doing it obviously as they do not seem to be humiliated into acting as if they understood awareness of the people around them. To the contrary, they act as if they no one sees it. But that is not the case. Most everyone sees it.
It is well known that capitalism has its ups and downs. No other system has resulted in as much economic growth as capitalism has. If you know of one then explain it to us. The fact is that you can't because none exist.
The problem we now have is that the emerging markets are doing a better job with capitalism than we are and thus more prosperity is going to them, the current victors. However they are cheating so that they can win.
The Chinese, for example, know that if they export more products to us than we export to them then it will result in them having excess dollars and in order to trade them back for Yuan it will cause the Yuan to rise in value in order for the trade to have a zero balance. This will erase their economic advantage as it will cause their products to cost more to us. So they stash enough or our currency to ensure that this does not happen. This is what they refer to as currency manipulation and under normal circumstances, where currency manipulation does not exist, trade imbalances equalize out as currency traders adjust the values to get a zero balance of excess currency on either side of the trade. But China holds enough dollars so as to insure that their workers get paid a lot less than our workers in terms of the prices world commodities. Their workers suffer as a result but it has allowed China to grow economically in excess of 10% of year in normal economic times which is what they want.
We don’t have an economic issue, we have a trade issue. What they need to do is reform trade laws in such a way that currency manipulation is no longer rewarded.
We need to focus on the actually problems that we have if we expect to make things better. For them it is better for us to be distracted on other things because as soon as we get focused on solving the real problem they will have to play fair and that they do not want to do.
I doubt this will get addressed by Obama or he would have done it already.
I think the recent interest rate scare taught investors what is going to happen when rates go up which they know will happen eventually. Before the scare you had a lot of investors that were clueless. Now most understand the concept of rising rates and lower mREIT stock prices and dividends. Even if they know that rates may stay flat they now clearly understand what will happen when they go up and only those who are willing to play the great fool game are going to bid up the stock price hoping to be able to dump it later to a greater fool. I think the more conservative investor now realizes that the market is preparing for an interest rate increase in the future and will be cautious as a result. This cautious state of mind seems to hjave happened earlier than it needed to considering the Feds likely new course but it does not change the fact that it occurred. Rationalizing another scenario that ignores this isn't going to make that caution go away. Pandora's box has already been opened.
can you explain what is meant by tax shield. This is the first I have heard of it.
He won't admit it. He is too small of a man to admit it. Right now he is in the process of giving speeches where he is changing the wording of what he said as if we don't live in the internet age were every thing he said before has been recorded and can be checked. He acts as if the people who voted for him are too dumb to realize what he is doing.
I don't have a problem with beating up on people that make stuff up and then post it on a message board as if they know it to be true. I have no problem with that at all. He deserves no better. If he will stop acting like an immature adolescent then I will stop treating him like one.
Acting like you know things that you don't isn't solving any problems. It is actually creating problems. As this is how you get so many misguided people in the world because they go around reinforcing each other's misinformation. If people don't know anything then they should not be posting to a public board as if they do.
I am not obligated to give this kind of behavior a pass. Nor will I. Most people are not judging him any differently. And besides, he is an embarrassment to any informed Democrat. Why don't you liberals educate your own? I would feel no better about a moron Republican who did the same and I would feel embarassed by them as well.
You can go look at the profits of any public health insurance company right here on yahoo financials and see if what you say is actually factual or whether you are just making it up for the purpose of making a point.
For example … UNH (United Health Group) had $120.14 billion in revenue and a net profit of $5.44 billion. Is that your idea of excessive profits? We are talking 4.5%. But this is not uncommon as it is known that profits in the insurance business are pretty low and why I would never invest in one.
This is pretty easy stuff to verify. It took me all of 30 seconds.
I guess that this is a FOX news conspiracy to alter the financial information of public companies so that Democrats can't make up facts as they so desire. That's a bummer.
You are not right even 50% of the time. It almost seems as if you are trying to be wrong as this would require an effort to be wrong so often. Or is it that the foundation upon which you rest your beliefs is simply flawed? Because even random selections one would result in being right half the time.
Will you ever make a minimal effort to be right? Or did you do that and it resulted in you getting the wrong answers? It must be frustrating to find out that nothing you believe in can be verified as being factual. Well, not for someone with a low IQ as they wouldn't even realize their predicament. Which I am sure you don't as it is pretty obvious to most anyone.
They eliminated the preexisting condition issue with the requirement that everyone had to get insurance. That is all they had to do. It does not require a single payer to achieve that.
A single payer system does not result in the same health care for the rich and the poor. The rich always have the choice to get private insurance or to self insure. The rich can always afford procedures that if you gave to them to everyone it would bankrupt the country. You cannot keep them from getting access to the best money can buy. Just how would you stop them and why would you want to? Just to keep them from getting more than what others have access to?
So I don’t see how any of this equates to single payer. What the health care industry needs is something it has not had for a long time which is competition. Lack of competition has lead to wealthy doctors that have little motivation to lower their cost. Single payer does not increase competition; to the contrary it eliminates competition. They will pay everyone the same amount whether it is cheap or not and if it is too expensive to fund then they will do what is easiest for them to do which is ration.
The only time the price of anything has declined yearly is when the consumer has choices and when picking the more expensive choice cost them. This goes for cell phones, computers, and it would go for health care if they used the HSA model. Because in the HSA model the patient starts to care about how much his health care cost. Only the consumer drives down prices and giving someone a blank check before they go to see the doctor isn’t the way to do it. The HSA model protects a person from large financial cost by having a maximum out of pocket but also motivates the patient to accumulate the size of their HSA account so that it exceeds the max out of pocket. Expensive doctors will get scrutinized for this reason. It is pretty obvious when you think about it. It works naturally on its own.
It's the truth. And it is all documented. So there isn't a whole lot anyone can say about it.
At issue here is which party is telling the truth and which party is hiding the truth. I'm not saying that the Republicans have never tried to do something that turned out to be a disaster. Just look at the weapons of mass destruction justification for the Iraq invasion. But when it came out they owned up to it and said they were wrong. What could they do?
I will guarantee that Obama will never own up too his deception to the American people. Because that is what he is. Mr. it’s not my fault. Which is getting to sound like a broken record. Somehow he will try to blame it on the Republicans but that is who he is. In any event he will keep lying about it like a low IQ peasant.
Just like Obama saying he has no idea what the NSA is up to when they were spying on our allies. Was he too busy playing golf to have NSA briefings? The fact is that not knowing that we were spying on our allies is worse than knowing it and denying it. It basically says that since Obama became President that the government has been running its self for lack of executive branch oversight. How can you justify not knowing? And the really dumb thing about is that I’m sure none of the information we gleamed was actionable. It was just being nosey. Why would we need to know what Merkel was up to? Who cares?
It is no wonder that he is losing popularity with even his own party. He is an embarrassment to our country. And to imagine they gave him the peace prize just for getting elected. But then, the peace price has often been a prize to give away for political reason just to make a statement and often says nothing about the actual accomplishments of the recipient. After all, just what had Obama done? Nothing. I bet they regret it now that they know him.
Our medical costs in the US are high because patients go into the doctor’s office with a blank check and demand that they get it all. Insurance companies caused this. In single payer systems they keep cost down by restricting services. They have to or they would go bankrupt. Many argue that his is fairer. Others argue that it is the government deciding what is best for the patient and the government budget. Neither our current system nor the single payer system creates competition.
In the single payer system the doctors knows he will get a fixed fee and it is up to the government to decide who will get access to him and when. That does not create competition. It creates complacency.
The HSA model motivates the patient to protect the balance of their HSA account. Doctors who drain it faster will get scrutinized for cost. Doctors who drain it slower will be scrutinized for quality. The patient decides which will take priority. The maximum out of pocket insures the patient against financial calamity which is what insurance should be for anyway.
Most people fear going bankrupt for a procedure that saves their lives and thus they will pay as much as possible to get the procedure. This is why most Americans have health care insurance. If there were no expensive procedures then no one would even have medical insurance because in the long run paying out of pocket would be the cheapest way to go. It is only because of these expensive life threatening procedures that people get insurance in the first place.
In the summer of 2010 about 3 months after Obamacare was passed they passed a health and human services regulation that is the reason that health care policies are getting canceled. Democrats who voted for these regulatory changes, after being pressured by the white house to do so, are now saying that they did not realize that the regulation change would cause the cancelations yet there are videos of Senator Mike Enzi, a Republican, explaining to congress why these regulation changes would cause these policies to get cancelled. They knew, they were aware, and they passed it anyway. This is two years before Obama went out and said in campaign speeches that if you liked the plan you were currently on that you would not have to change. Obviously he knew this was not the case at the time as he was pushing for the regulation changes and is why both Democrats and Republicans are angry over this deception. His campaign consultants even advised that he not tell the truth about the fact that people would lose their old health insurance policies. It was an intentional deception on the part of the Whitehouse. They meant to do it and as each word was coming out of his mouth he knew it was a lie, and he had even discussed with his political advisors that he would be lying intentionally. And knowing so he did it anyway. You could not even tell either. You could not tell he was lying. He as that good at it.
I expected no better. This is Modus Operandi. Nothing new.
Move along folks, there is nothing to be seen here. Move along. You don't need to concern your selves. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Read the books on Obama where his "old" political allies talk frank about him and his broken promises. It's all out there, that is, if you really want to know. Maybe you don't want to know.
You can go on youtube and find videos of Obama making promises in speeches where he said that the restrictions that people are running into would never happen. This was before the election of course. So you can conclude one of two things. Either Obama was truly clueless about his own health care plan and did not understand that he was not telling the truth or that he knew very well that he was not telling the truth. So which was it? Dumb and honest or smart and dishonest? Those are the only two choices. Neither of them seem flattering to me. And this is why Obama's ratings are the lowest that they have ever been, because he deserves them.
Even the liberal news papers and magazines are criticizing him as being inept. Finally, they see it. It took them long enough. There is only one thing about Obama that I know to be true for a fact. No matter how bad of shape the country is in it is never bad enough to cause him to miss a golf date.
Also, when he wants something he never goes to congress with a plan. He asks the Democrats in congress to come up with something and then he always accepts whatever they propose. I guess if he were to come up with his own more detailed outlines then he would not have time to play golf. Most Presidents were known for working 16 hour days. The fact is that if he made a minimal amount of effort to be on top of things rather than observing from afar maybe he could have kept his flag ship program on track. I’m guessing that this lady that was responsible for the roll out of Obamacare didn’t have very many status meetings with her boss where prying questions were asked that would have made them aware that things were amiss. It seems to me that she was out their sailing without a compass and no one was checking in to make mid course corrections. Is this how you run a country? Apparently it is now.
People are tired of this.
In most countries that have these single payer systems you don't have to use them. There are still doctors who accept private insurance and don't do services for the state.
Since single payer does not create competition between doctors, health services never improve, and cost never decline because no one is motivated to do so as the fees are already set. Only when people are faced with being put out of business by more efficient competition does their survival instinct drive them to make changes. Single payer systems never drive doctors to that extreme so it stagnates. And as a result the only option left to them to reduce cost is to decline services ration them because that they can easily do. Our current system is no better at creating competition because all insurance companies care about is that they get charged no more than the other insurance companies. If all insurances are getting charged twice what it really cost then it is fine by them because they make twice as much money as they charge a fixed percentage. They don't care.
Only the HSA model has demonstrated the ability to get the patient to act more frugal because high cost doctors drain their spending account faster so they seek to remedy this by looking for lower cost doctors. This in turn forces doctors to compete. Nothing else does.
Some countries control cost by deciding what doctors can earn. That works. But then would US doctors agree to having their wages reduced so that they are no longer wealthy and then must sell their expensive homes. Many doctors who already have their nest egg and are outraged would simply retire. Young doctors would probably keep going. Enrollment into medical school would decline.
