Fug, Spoken like one who has never employed another. Go ahead figure the overtime cost on 80hrs, then do the same hours on a $10.10 wage or higher, but remember, the employee doesn't know how to do much, as he is at his first job, and only a very poor high school education or worse. You where so eager to run the numbers, so do it. Only this time do it correctly, lest the labor board start nocking on your door.
""As left-winger (by today's standard), President Reagan noted, this is not a solution, it is the problem.""
Sum, please let me correct your "Reagan quote"; it goes like this,
"Government is not the solution, government is the problem."
Here is another Reagan quote;
"Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so."
"The efforts of men and women who operate small businesses are vital to the Nation’s economic growth."
""Let me update myself - if you work only 80 hrs/week""
Yes, Fugup, do update your self. Update your numbers with the 40 hours of overtime you just neglected to pay this Employee, and be sure to add in the additional 16 to 20% or more in matching taxes, and workman's comp, and unemployment insurance, and don't forget to add the cost of what you are contributing to that employees healthcare insurance, and don't forget to add in any 401k matching funds for this employee. Then add in seasonal fluctuations in company revenues, and lets see how easy it is for you to make payroll for this hardworking employee that works for your small business.
And I haven't even mentioned basic business overhead yet.
By the way, FL min wage is $7.93 per hour currently, and adjust for inflation. My employees earn based on what they produce, and there wages are never capped. Its just a matter of how hard and smart they are willing to work. As most employers want a motivated workforce, and don't mind paying well for it. What we do mind is paying people that do not want to work, and will not work enough to cover the cost of employing them. Many first time, no skilled, and low skilled workers fall in this category, and if you wish for these people to learn how to work and earn their way, you must have a low min wage available, so they can get started somewhere. Otherwise, they will not be employed.
I could go on, but I don't think you are listening. Leftist never do.
Shares, you must be buying some at this point...
What is your take on 1127? Are you negative on that as well?
Fug, I have no doubt we are going to experience hyperinflation in the not so distant future. I just hope we don't end up like the Weimar Republic and lead ourselves into another great depression.
""Rindo treatment is the only intervention that has provided 7-8 years long term survival for vIII(+) GBM pts.""
Longvrts, that is worth repeating.
SCR, that does not excuse your first statement of accusations. You were very specific in your attack on tea party members.
Fug, you are a fool. Name your number, what ever it is, that will become the new min wage and will find equilibrium as a min wage within the economy. And it had better do it fast, for if not 10 of millions of people will lose there jobs, as companies go out of business, and those that survive, cut their workforces. And soon enough, all those politicians that supported such socialist doctrine will be out of office for 40 years.
What ever the min wage, incomes and prices will adjust to that norm, and purchasing power will remain the same. It will only take more and more dollars for the same. Oh what the heck, we are already headed there anyway.
I will start raising my prices today.
Oh Sum, I was with you until the end of your statement. Let go of the hatred and leftist propaganda.
You will be an even better man for it. If you can say anything about conservatives, it is that they value hard work.
It is the leftist who want to make all work equal. I know, I know, it sounds really nice. I can almost hear the uplifting Soviet propaganda songs in the background. The only problem is, its not based in reality, and fails miserably every time its tried.
Who the hell do you know that has a family, (which should imply some age and much work experience) and is working for 7.25 per hour? Hell , just about every fast food joint, and every private employer pays more than that.
The success I was speaking of is over time, as anyone willing to work hard will at some point be recognized for that hard work in the private sector, or find an employer who will recognize the willingness to work that hard. Private employers love people like that, and will go to great lengths to keep such employees. Including increasing pay when possible.
Anyone who is so inexperienced so as to need to work for such a wage should delay family life until he or she have prepared for it. And those that take a different path, will need to build experience in there work so they too can be paid better, but even they will likely find work for more than the Federal min wage. Come on fugup, you can do better than that.
Sum, show me a man willing to work 60 to 80 hours plus per week and I will show you a man who is successful and providing reasonably well for his family. So why are we creating legislation that has the effect of making in impossible to work as an employee and get 40 hours per week or in some cases hard to get even 30 hours per week from as single employer?
"But I'm no fan of racists, extremists, distorters of fact, liars, etc." This does not describe those who see themselves as tea party members, not in any way, shape. or form. Again, get out of your comfort zone, and meet someone outside of your circle of friends.
When in your life have you ever called out these things on the fringe left?
There are cooks in every group of people to be certain. The left is ripe with racists, extremists, distorters of fact, liars, etc...
SCR, so you like being part of the leftist, socialist propaganda machine. Racist, tea party noise?
Get out of your comfort zone and go meet some of those people of whom you speak so ill. Or is it just easier for you to drink the propaganda Kool-aid?
I think we will find that the crew was under duress, and that it was not a mechanical issue.
I wonder if the plane was forced to land somewhere, or simply crashed in a area completely off course.
Tacken, now multiply that throughout the nation. And what are the consequences for all while the economy and wages attempt to rebalance.
It would be better to affix the min wage to inflation, and have a more gradual increase that business and markets can absorb. But then you take the political issue out of leftist hands during an election, and we can't have that.
Sum, fewer people will be employed, and those employed will make more money, as fewer jobs will be available to those without skill, because employers can only employ so many workers at a loss.
Elementary? You betcha!
