I did about the same thing. With all the IRAN news and CHINA economy noise we could have seen the bottom. Time will tell. This makes 3 big up days and the shorts could be forced to back their positions. Lets see if they cover. they could be forced to buy back a lot higher.

shorts are #$%$ as oil over plays in both directions. I don't think they will get a better low. The middle east players but the top 2 or three are going broke. I would look for the ARABS to nibble on these, Then raise oil in cooperation.

  • rchites rchites Jan 23, 2016 8:00 AM Flag

HUGE war and we go up 10$ . ARABS growing a brain and buying these up will also double this stock. These stocks would be free for them as they raise oil back up.

I am betting on ARAB money moving in to the USA small oil plays. ITS their way to win using both fronts. They cant keep this below 40 dollars for long were the small caps can survive. OVER 40 and these come into play again. EITHER they pay the piper here and make money in both places or they accept lower oil and split the oil revenue. They will not keep it below 40 forever. These will always be in the background as they got to greedy . The YANKIES just capped their returns and ultimate game plan. They can buy in to our oil fields or face lower oil and give it away tell they bleed to death.

The Arabs are not as bright YET. Smart but not a GENIOUS. They could own the US oil small caps and Arab oil. EITHER we buy them or give it away to the Saudis. They are selling the ASSETS on the EAST coast made with 120$ oil for six years. This run could sell back off like before or it could get a lot more interest and stay. I would guess you wont see 3 dollars here again. SO YOU shorts are the not so bright ones. Anything around 4.5 $$$$ will be bought here fast.

Shorts ready to loose it all back??? How you going to cover as 120% of the stock is in safe hands? Ever hear of SQUEEEEEEZE... Hedging is guaranteed return....

  • 30% shorts Management and large players are buying at these ridiculous low levels ... 120% of the stock in institutional and insiders safe hands New turn around have caught the shorts. Up 26% today !!! There is a dis connect between the share price and the companies stable positions. The stock has been misread by the industry as to Comstock's overall operating position. Our first two re-fracs of producing Haynesville shale wells were also successful and added bonus, Last month, Comstock officials told investors that it could get a 30% return on its new wells even with gas at $2.50 a million BTUs. The Frisco, Texas-based company plans to drill more wells in Louisiana’s Haynesville than it will in the oily Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. Technology- Comstock Resources and Chesapeake Energy, among others, have enjoyed huge successes by extending the lateral portions of horizontal wells far beyond what has been done in the past, adding thousands of feet to their lengths. Supersizing fracking operations would allow companies to be profitable producers of shale gas even at the incredibly low prices exhibited in today’s marketplace – below $3 per million Btu (MMBtu). Comstock Resources says it can earn an 8 percent return on gas produced from these wells even when prices are at $2.50/MMBtu.
Liquidity- In March, we completed a $700 million bond offering which paid off our bank credit facility and added liquidity to our balance sheet. On July 22, we completed the sale of our East Texas Eagle Ford operations to a private firm for $115 million. Burleson County properties IMPERIAL Capital- If we consider liquidity risk, quality of properties, as well as quality of operatorship, our favorite low-risk companies remain Carrizo Oil & Gas (ticker: CRZO ), Comstock Resources ,CRK and Synergy Resources SYGR ), to which we would now add Callon Petroleum CPE, medium-risk Gastar Exploration GST and high-risk Goodrich Petroleum GDP. The companies best positioned in the current environment from a liquidity standpoint, in our view, include Carrizo, Abraxas Petroleum AXAS , Synergy, Callon, Jones Energy (JONE). PetroQuest Energy (PQ) and Comstock. Security- We have no debt maturities until 2019 . Pro forma, Comstock has ~$233 million in cash on hand which provides it ample liquidity with which to manage going forward. Comstock no longer has a bank facility that's limited to a borrowing base. GAS hedged. In March, we completed a $700 million bond offering which paid off our bank credit facility and added liquidity to our balance sheet.
PRODUCTION Gas production was up 35% from the first quarter rate of 91 million per day. We expect our Haynesville production to continue growing in the next two quarters. For all of 2015, we estimate our gas production will average between 125 million cubic feet per day to 150 million cubic feet per day. HEDGED - We recently added some natural gas hedges at $3.20 per Mcf starting in July for the next 12 months . We will continue to safeguard our balance sheet and with the recent closed shale of our East Texas Eagle Ford properties we have $283 million of liquidity and have significantly reduced our spending for the rest of the year to conserve this liquidity.

Or other countries? Russia’s state-controlled gas exporters, there is no reason why Russia could not develop a meaningful CNG/LNG fuel market. But, similar in some ways to North America, the NGV value chain just doesn’t have much of a history there. It’s worth noting that Gazprom is actively seeking new outlets for its surplus gas, bearing in mind that the European Union’s aggregate gas demand is near a 20-year low. Put another way, it’s not an issue of trying to be more “green” – Russia already has low carbon intensity per capita – but rather Gazprom aiming to boost the domestic gas market. Gazprom currently has 200 compressed natural gas stations in Russia, with plans to invest in upgrading those stations and constructing new stations to reach a total of about 500 fueling stations by 2020. The company expects CNG consumption to grow from 0.4 billion cubic meters in 2013 to 10.4 cubic meters by 2020.

The CWI ISL G Near Zero NOx natural gas engine was the first mid-range engine in North America to achieve U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") and California Air Resources Board ("ARB") Near Zero NOx certification. The ISL G Near Zero NOx engine exhaust emissions will be 90% lower than the current EPA NOx limit. the company introduced the 2016 ISB6.7 G, a 6.7-liter MidRange natural gas engine in the Type C School bus market as well as the Westport High Pressure Direct Injection system for a Daimler heavy-duty engine, in collaboration with Daimler AG DDAIF.

  • The CEO stated himself in the latest cc that he expects there to a lot of M&A activity in his industry
@@@@@ The supply of natural gas is expected to increase significantly in coming years. This is good news for Westport as it provides ample fuel for its products. The other side of this is that demand for natural gas is expected to increase as well. The increase in demand will likely raise natural gas prices in North America but potentially see them fall somewhat overseas in markets like Europe and Asia as a result of North American exports.
Either way you spin it, natural gas is poised to be a fuel at the center of the world's energy needs. Westport wants to see it dominant in vehicles using its technology.
    • Natural gas produces less pollution than oil , which helps make it more marketable in a world increasingly focused on environmental well-being. The crash in energy prices left the company down to new lows. OIL has been destroyed and soon should be on its way up and WPRT may follow. My portfolio has been destroyed. The company has some interesting numbers in shares held by institutions and insiders of 120% Then on the other side you have 38% of the shares short. Who will win? Is the 15 book any where close after next quarter? My guess it will be worth 10$ a share and still a bargain. Then mid year in 2016 oil could start to recover for the last quarter of 2016. Iran oil will take 3 to 6 months to flow but its coming. OIL stocks were all down ten to 20% today. There is plenty of blood when the markets loose another 30% in an industry per quarter or since the 1st of the year. The industry has to be in question at this point. Not only some of these smaller stocks. The big boys should start the buying as even that may not help much as most of us are to far under for relief.
