As long as Alex Gorsky is Charman, that will NEVER happen. J&J is and has been a holding company for a very long time. If you go back 20 years and list the companies that comprised JNJ, that list would be totally different from a listing of JNJ owned companies today outside of a few core holdings that JNJ has owned for 50+ years (Janssen Pharmaceuticals for example).
Great time to buy. This Remicade thing reminds me of the withdrawal of Propulsid from the market in 2000. Sales of Propulside were $1 Billion worldwide when J&J's total annual sales were approximately $30 Billion. The stock took a short term hit, but rebounded within 6 months. This, too shall pass.
